Mara is a top-tier character when written well, but drifts into Sue territory when handled by the wrong author. Her portrayal in Heir to the Empire was the best waifu material one could hope for: proud and arrogant tsundere that reluctantly turns to Luke for support when she's forced to admit how out of her depth she is.
