singleplayer ship building game, no story yet, all you do is kill enemy ships and upgrade your ship/buy additional ships

damage to the ships is as you see it, wherever you get hit, that part of the ship stops functioning. they destroyed your shield generators? well you should have built hull in front of them

Here's my attempt at a klingon warbird

costs a bit too much for what it's worth, but the firepower is good

ships are actually saved as images, so you can just download it from here and put it in your game

Also want to add Brannon Braga is double retarded. Birds of Prey are often their raider line of ships. Klingons use Attack/Battlecruisers as well. He should be crucified for such an oversight.

works pretty well

but against elite tier ships, it gets outgunned

just ended up fighting an enterprise replica, the thing was constantly rotating to use shields that weren't downed yet. meanwhile i was left with a quarter of the ship and still shooting a few lasers at their shields/turrets

i probably could have taken out its engines, but i'd still get killed

i can't understand what the front of the ship is for though, it always gets blown up regardless of how much shields i throw on it. it would have been easier to just make the ship boomerang shaped

So I gave it a try. I played the mercenaries or whatever it's called mode. The 2D not allowing you to stack weapons and what-have-you was very limiting, and I quickly learned that targeting the power source killed every single ship I came up against. Not bad, but a little bare-bones. 6/10, because I think it has promise, but it needs a Z-axis of at least one more level.

tbh, it's the least limiting ship builder i've seen so far

istrolid is fairly similar, but you can't even rotate ship parts there

and as it is right now, if we had a z-axis the game would run horribly. put 2-3 big ships and you get framerate drops, add z-levels and you'll actually need a non-toaster

you can create the shape of the ship (just corridors) by loading a png

but i think pixels=real width and height, so you need to scale it down

once you do that, you might also want to fix any new symmetry issues

extremely overpriced and inefficient, but it can beat the enterprise

realistically i should have made it half as big and just went with two ships instead, would have been cheaper

This game is comfy. I just wish I wasn't horrible at designing ships. I took a stab at the Romulan Bird-of-Prey since it's my favorite ship. I tried to keep it (relatively) inexpensive while still capable of putting up a decent fight.

Three of them can fairly reliably take on the built-in constellation while costing about the same.

Frame included because I'm sure someone can make a more efficient or tougher one.

What if you just made your ship a spiral shape, with weapons and shields all along the outward-facing curvature of the spiral? As sections get destroyed, they expose fresh weapons and shields of the inner portions of the spiral.
