This is the only smile worth protecting.

he can become any girl he wants but we prefer him just the way he is.

Pretty sure that if all the alienated and socially awkward high-school incels identified with Odo instead of going "I'm smart and bad at emotional relationships so I'm basically a Vulcan," we'd have an at least marginally better society as a whole.

As Star Trek goes, Odo is the character I've always identified with most strongly. In "His Way", after genuinely having fun miming to the music on a player piano, he remarks to Vic that "I'm just relieved that my friends didn't see me." That line really stings every time I hear it- hits a little too close to home.

I can understand why Odo looks the way he does, and that's fine. I don't get why every other Changeling they showed looked exactly like Odo nearly all the time, even after being shown that they could mimic other beings perfectly.

They thought the audience wouldn't get it otherwise. Like how nemesis is bald because Picard's bald, even though Picard had hair when he was young.

The whole ‘founders are hated by solids’ thing seemed silly anyways. I’d think the Founders would have perfected looking like beautiful people and the problem would be their immense charm - they can form to their surroundings after all.

If every changeling was like Odo, there wouldn't be any trouble, but they aren't. They're all conniving dicks with a massive superiority complex who can't seem to understand why no one wants to trust the ultra-secretive race of aliens who only want to infiltrate, manipulate, and conquer all other species. They have the ability to travel through space freely, blend in and learn from every species they encounter, and then share that knowledge with a massive, immortal collective of their kind and what do they end up with?

>HUR DUR THE MONOFORMS IS MEAN.

>By the way, did you know they can't harm us at all and they pose us no threat at all?

>did you know they can't harm us at all and they pose us no threat at all?

uh, changelings are perfectly mortal to phasers though

I tend to think all that ‘muh persecution’ shit is a lie, like Jew level stuff where founders went in to societies and fucked them up until the locals expelled them.

436319 (4) No.10414>>10416

>>10410

I don't think phasers ever posed a significant threat to them. I think the only Changeling they ever killed was the one that Odo pushed into the warpcore and fried.

Mirror Odo splattering is one of my favorite scenes.

In the first mirror universe episode of DS9 Bashir kills mirror Odo with a phaser. He explodes into dead stringy goo.

True enough, but we later see that Changelings can turn into fire and gas and all kinds of shit, and there's no reason that being exploded would mean they couldn't regenerate. Their powers are kind of bullshit like that.

I always found it pretty funny that the Founders lived down to every "unjust" stereotype that they claimed the mean old solids subjected them to.

That's true, but mirror Kira gets all pissed off about how Bashir killed a great man who was the last of his race.

The part I appreciate about Cardassian dialogue is that there's always some justification or way that they claim they've been wronged or persecuted. I think they tried to move such a perception onto the dominion after they appeared specifically because, Dukat memes aside, that sort of character trait is hard to square for the viewer when we're explicitly told and shown that they've done some shit.

In comparison what the founders are doing seems distant when they're introduced since they work indirectly, so this "we're only doing this because we're mistreated" angle ultimately fits them better than the Cardassians.

b9c936 (1) No.10440

>>10433

Cardassians don't actually have a muh opreshun narrative, they just plainly state they're superior and anyone who even steps in their way is insulting nature itself. Their excuses for why they invade various places or act outraged when they get invaded back aren't an oppression narrative, it's one of those lies that we accept without being able to believe it. Garak said it best

>i always tell the truth

>even when you're lying

>especially when i'm lying
