The Global Economy Was Sinking Long Before The Coronavirus Appeared

In order to determine if a geopolitical or economic threat is legitimate, I find it helps to watch how the mainstream propaganda narrative flows and changes. For example, for the past year as almost every fundamental indicator was flashing warning signs on the global economy the primary message in the mainstream was that central banks would never allow any major shocks to the financial system. In other words, they would pour in cash at the slightest hint of trouble. The conclusion for the investment world? To “buy the F'ing dip!" Why not? You can't lose.

Despite the fact that fraudulent stock markets artificially inflated by corporate stock buybacks are irrelevant to the health of our system, they still represent a psychological placebo for the masses. Very few people care that it is a historic bubble; as long as everything is in the green they assume that all is well with the economy.

In the past, anyone who pointed out that this attitude was a recipe for disaster, anyone who argued that the system was breaking and the Everything Bubble was popping was called a “doom monger” or “chicken little”.

I've noticed very recently (in the last week) that this attack response is shifting in an interesting way. Where propaganda peddlers used to call us “paranoid”, now they argue that “our prepping or precious metals stacking won't save us…” People are “coming to take our supplies…” they say. That's quite a 180 degree flip flop. As preppers and alternative economists are proven more and more right everyday, the narrative has changed from telling us we're wrong, to telling us we will be sorry for being right.

Well, I'm not sorry for being right and neither should any other liberty analyst or preparedness advocate. I believe the information we have provided to millions of people has encouraged them to remain vigilant and ready for crisis, and hopefully this will keep them alive in the future. The so-called “skeptics” seem to be determined to convince people to do absolutely nothing; to remain blind to any data that does not fit the recovery narrative and to have no backup plan in the event that something goes wrong. Why all the hostility towards the idea of simply being prepared?

Who benefits the most if you and the majority of people have no contingency plan? Who has something to gain by trying to convince you to ignore the obvious?

As mentioned, if they can't win by conning the liberty movement into turning a blind eye to the facts, they have decided to let us know that it doesn't matter and we will still be made to suffer for our defiance. This confirms my long-time argument that prepping is only the beginning of the fight; it is a means to an end. The real fight will be for our freedoms and the freedoms of future generations. Those who think the goal is only about survival are severely mistaken. Personal survival would be nice, but the survival of our principles and our way of life takes precedence, and this will require us to do a lot more than merely stock supplies and hide out in the woods.

Trump Links Weinstein to Michelle Obama in Reaction to Conviction

Disgraced former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, a Democratic Party mega-donor, was just convicted in a New York court of two felony sex crimes that will likely land him in prison for quite some time.

Despite ample and obvious connections between Weinstein and numerous prominent Democratic politicians, however, the establishment media has largely avoided making any mention of those connections while reporting on his conviction and other alleged crimes for which he will soon stand trial in California.

But the media was forced to confront the issue of Weinstein’s deep connections and substantial donations to Democrats after President Donald Trump was asked to weigh in on the topic at a news conference during his two-day state visit to India.

Of course, the media being as anti-Trump as it is, The Washington Post used the opportunity to spin the Weinstein verdict into an indictment of the president himself, given the number of women who’ve leveled allegations of sexual misconduct against him since he entered the political arena.

The Post’s article, however, reads as a desperate defensive measure in light of what Trump had to say when reporters asked him about Weinstein.

Trump called out former first lady Michelle Obama for having openly expressed how much she “loved” the Hollywood producer. He also was quick to point out how twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also “loved” Weinstein and been a willing recipient of his financial contributions to her political career.

“So, I was never a fan of Harvey Weinstein, as you know. In fact, he said he was going to work hard to defeat me in the election. How did that work out, by the way? I’m trying to figure that out,” Trump said at the news conference, according to a White House transcript of his remarks.

“He was a person I didn’t like — never liked,” the president continued, noting that he wasn’t familiar with the specifics of Weinstein’s trial because he’d been busy with the trip to India. “But I was just not a fan of his. I knew him a little bit, not very well. I knew him because he was in New York. Not — not a person that I like.”

“I will say, the people that liked him were the Democrats,” Trump said. “Michelle Obama loved him. Loved him. Hillary Clinton loved him. And he gave tremendous money to the Democrats.”

“And I guess my question is: Will the Democrats be asking for that money back? Because he gave a lot of money to the Democrats. And, you know, it’s too bad, but that’s the way it worked out,” he added.

Following that response, another reporter asked a follow-up question about the president’s attitude toward the “#MeToo” movement.

Trump sidestepped that loaded question and simply said of the Weinstein verdict, “I think that from the standpoint of women, I think it was a great thing. It was a — it was a great victory and sends a very strong message.”

That question regarding the #MeToo movement was loaded because, as The Washington Post went to great lengths to point out in its slanted article, the movement was, at least in part, devised as a sort of rebuke against Trump and other wealthy and powerful men like him.

Live Updates: 22 Turkish Troops Killed Under Fire in Syria's Idlib

Earlier in the day, Syrian air defences downed a Turkish attack drone that had violated Syrian airspace to carry out strikes against government positions in the province, the Russian military said.

Some 22 Turkish servicemen have been killed as a result of an airstrike in the Syrian province of Idlib, Anadolu Agency reported on Thursday citing Rahmi Dogan, the governor of Hatay province is located close to the Turkish border with Syria.

Initially, Dogan reported nine casualties.

"There has been an airstrike by the regime forces against our military in Idlib. After this attack, nine of our soldiers were martyred", Dogan said. "We have seriously injured, who have been received at our Cilvegozu border gate into Turkey".

Meanwhile, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has chaired an emergency security meeting on the situation in Idlib, Anadolu Agency said.

The situation has escalated in the northwestern province of Syria since early February as local militants have intensified attacks against the Syrian government forces. The Russian military has revealed that Ankara had backed the militants in the area with artillery fire.

In December, Damascus launched a counter-terror operation to recapture areas of Idlib that are mostly under the control of the militants from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly known as Al-Nusra Front*).

Reddit Purges Moderators of Largest Pro-Trump Community ‘The Donald’

Several moderators of The Donald, Reddit’s largest pro-Trump community, have been purged by the site’s administrators, who aim to replace them with moderators approved by the San Francisco company. The Donald’s creators say this is the latest in Reddit’s “thousand cuts” campaign to kill off its massively successful pro-Trump community.

The Donald is one of largest and influential hubs of pro-Trump activity on the web, with over 790,000 subscribed Reddit users. In 2016, the community’s users were responsible for the creation and proliferation of numerous pro-Trump tropes and memes across the Internet, in what has colloquially become known as the “great meme war.”

The Reddit administrators announced their purge in a post on The Donald, offering to “help” recruit new moderators, and implying a list of conditions on applicants.

In a statement to Breitbart News, moderators of The Donald accused Reddit of trying to kill its pro-Trump community with “a thousand cuts,” and urged subscribers to migrate to thedonald.win, an independent Reddit-like site created by the pro-Trump community.

The Donald’s statement follows:

Reddit has been trying to slowly kill The_Donald since it played a role in getting Trump elected in 2016. It started with user harassment, moved on to restricting our posts from being seen by most of the rest of Reddit (The third highest-traffic website in the world), then entirely quarantining us from the rest of the website as well as search engine results.

In the last couple of days, China-backed Reddit has begun warning and banning our users not only for posting content that they disagree with, but even “liking” wrongthink. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Washington "does not and will not ever recognize" Moscow's claim to Ukraine's Crimea region, which it seized in 2014 and annexed.

Pompeo said that "February 27 will mark the sixth anniversary of Russia's attempted annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula, and the United States reaffirms: Crimea is Ukraine."

"As underscored in our July 2018 Crimea Declaration, the United States does not and will not ever recognize Russia's claims of sovereignty over the peninsula. We call on Russia to end its occupation of Crimea," he said.

"Six years on, Russia continues to rely on lies and disinformation in its failed attempt to legitimize the illegitimate. Its efforts are doomed to failure," he said.

Pompeo said the world will never forget "Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine."

"The United States condemns Russia's illegal actions in Crimea and its continued aggressive actions against Ukraine, including in the Donbas, and will maintain sanctions against Russia until it returns control of Crimea to Ukraine and fully implements its commitments under the Minsk agreements," he said, referring to a set of agreements struck in the Belarusian capital aimed at ending the conflict.

Pompeo's remarks came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy issued a decree designating February 26 a memorial day to mark Russia's annexation of Crimea – an annexation not recognized by the international community and which has led to a series of sanctions against Moscow.

According to Russian state-run TASS news agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Zelenskiy's move "does not correspond to the real situation around Crimea," adding that Moscow "categorically" disagrees with the wording of Zelenskiy's decree.

Russia seized the Black Sea peninsula in March 2014 after sending in troops and staging a referendum deemed illegitimate by at least 100 countries. In April that year, Russia threw its support behind armed separatists in Ukraine’s eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, generally known as the Donbas, where more than 13,000 people have been killed in the ongoing conflict.

Pompeo said that "Russia's occupation of Crimea and its increasing militarization of the peninsula is a threat to our common security."

He added that Moscow's "occupation authorities continue their assault on human rights and fundamental freedoms, brutally silencing critics in civil society and the media, and curtailing religious freedom."

Pompeo said more than 80 people from Crimea, including members of the Tatar community, "have been imprisoned by Russia – and some subjected to torture – for peaceful opposition to the occupation."

He also said Moscow had violated international law by forcibly conscripting nearly 20,000 Crimean men, a charge leveled in November by Human Rights Watch (HRW), which said the men were being forced to serve in the Russian military.

U.S. President Donald Trump this week extended for one year a series of previously imposed sanctions on Russia over its actions in Ukraine.

Trump's executive order was signed on February 25 and includes a package of sanctions that have expanded in scope over time since March 6, 2014.
