The Royal Family plans to erect a huge storage facility in the grounds of Windsor Castle to house valuable artwork and artefacts while Buckingham Palace undergoes major renovations.

The proposed structure would be built within a disused Walled Garden, several hundred yards from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s home, Frogmore Cottage, and would measure 2,119m2 - the size of eight tennis courts - remaining in place for five years.

It would house thousands of items from the Royal Collection, including precious paintings, porcelain, tapestries and furniture, that will be removed from Buckingham Palace before the builders arrive to embark on a long-planned, £369million refurbishment project.

However, Windsor and Maidenhead council officials have warned that a lack of drainage at the facility could cause flooding and suggested it could also be a blot on the landscape.

They said trees should be planted to restore parkland features and warned the application would be refused unless further paperwork is provided outlining how rainwater would be drained from the site.

Aides are said to have spent months hunting for an appropriate storage solution before deciding to build their own.

Pagan Nevada Guard Soldier Gets Waiver to Grow Beard; More May Follow

The Nevada Army Guard's first religious accommodation waiver granted a Norse Pagan soldier permission to grow a beard. Now, it is considering two similar requests from Pagan soldiers, according to a recent Army news release.

In 2017, the Defense Department expanded the number of faiths it recognizes and released guidance on how troops can apply for a religious accommodation waiver that will let them wear otherwise-prohibited items, such as a turban, headscarf or beard, in accordance with their "sincerely held beliefs."

Since then, the Army and Air Force have made headlines by granting waivers that accomodate service members of the Sikh and Muslim faiths, which often require wearing a turban or beard.

A waiver allowed Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin Hopper of the Nevada Army Guard's 3665th Ordnance Company grow a Norse beard, or Skegg, which he sees as a "sacred and defining feature of masculine men."

"In short, it is honoring the pillars of Heathenism, our ancestors and ancient Gods and way of life," the 34-year-old from Madison, Alabama, said in a release. "My personal faith is deeply tied to the modern warrior lifestyle that I have been able to live during my military career."

His polytheistic religion is based on Scandinavian-centric ancient beliefs and practices.

Service members seeking religious accommodation waivers must submit to their General Court-Martial Convening Authority officer a packet that includes their written request, a chaplain's interview memorandum, a legal review and recommendations from their chain of command.

The news release predicted the Nevada Guard will see an increase in religious accommodations as military regulations and policies evolve.

However, Maj. Donald Crandell, Joint Force State Chaplain, said waivers should be reserved for "extraordinary" steps to show faith or belief while on military duty.

"The chaplain corps will work with any military member to aid them in a genuine pursuit of an accommodation," Crandell said. "However, we are not actively promoting a trend in this direction or seeking to normalize it."

Meanwhile, Hopper has been deployed to Afghanistan for the last two months and said he keeps his waiver with him at all times in case he encounters superiors who don't know about this new process in the Army.

"Once I present my memorandum for record and cite all of the applicable regulations and directives, the focus on the beard tends to go away, for the most part," he said. "I see it as a phase very similar to when the Army authorized the wear of black socks during the fitness test. It is something new and authorized, and you will always encounter people who do not like change. That is just life."

But his waiver for the groomed, maximum 2-inch beard could be suspended at any point if there's a "threat of toxic exposure" in Afghanistan.

"I have had absolutely no hindrance to my professional performance or accomplishment of the mission due to my beard while deployed in Afghanistan," Hopper said. "I do get up a little earlier than others to make sure it is in accordance with AR 670-1, but that is about it."

Cops Responding to 911 Call, Find Asst. Chief Sexually Assaulting Small Children

Porum, OK — The badge has been tarnished once again this week by a bad cop. And, once again, it has to do with preying on children. This time, it was Porum Police Department’s second highest ranking cop, arrested on multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

On Thursday, Asst. Porum Police Chief David Ray Kash, 49, was arrested and charged for crimes associated with the sexual assault of two small children: a nine-year-old and a seven-year-old. In this case, one of the victims actually called 911 to report the abuse in progress.

According to the Muskogee County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a 911 call on December 19. The caller — who was reportedly one of the victims — told dispatch that Kash was sexually assaulting them, according to an affidavit filed with the case.

“We received the initial call and began the initial investigation and then turned it over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation,” Chief Deputy Michael Mahan to the Muskogee Phoenix. “It’s standard procedure whenever it involves another law enforcement agency within Muskogee County.”

During the investigation, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) conducted a sexual assault nurse examination, or SANE, which found injuries to one of the children were consistent with child sexual abuse, according to the paper.

While he was detained, during interviews — one carried out on Dec. 20 and one on Dec. 23 — the chief confessed to sexually assaulting the two children on multiple occasions between September and December.

“[Kash] described instances of receiving oral sex from juvenile 1 and juvenile 2, and also detailed instances of vaginal manipulation on juvenile 2 occurring at [Kash’s] residence located in Porum, Oklahoma,” the affidavit states.

In a disgusting twist, one of the victims described how the police chief first began sexually abusing her at Kids’ Space, a child advocacy center. Kids’ Space is a place for children to report child abuse and have it investigated by authorities. While this poor girl was trying to report abuse, Kash began abusing her.

One of the children detailed several instances of assault during an interview at Kids’ Space, Muskogee County Child Advocacy Center, according to the affidavit. The OSBI later concluded that Kash had abused the children and should be charged with child sexual abuse, the affidavit states.

Trump impeachment trial drags Roberts into spotlight

Chief Justice John Roberts has tried to prevent the Supreme Court from being seen as just another political body, but when he presides over President Trump’s likely impeachment trial in the Senate, the partisan glare will be hard for him to avoid.

The 64-year-old chief justice who famously said judges should simply call balls and strikes will now hold influence over the most bitterly partisan impeachment trial in modern American history, a situation more akin to umpiring a bench-clearing brawl.

The contentious affair threatens to put Roberts, a George W. Bush appointee, under political pressure from all sides, a role court watchers say the mild-mannered jurist will assume with great reluctance.

“He will look the part, and he will play the part, but he does not want the part,” said Carter Phillips, a partner at Sidley Austin who has argued dozens of cases before the Supreme Court.

The timing of Trump’s impeachment trial could hardly be less auspicious for a chief justice eager to avoid the political fray, especially as Roberts has morphed into something of a swing vote between the court’s reliably conservative and liberal blocs.

The Senate trial, expected to start in January, will also unfold as the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments in the coming months in a landmark separation of powers fight involving efforts by House Democrats and New York state prosecutors to obtain years of Trump’s financial records and tax returns.

Roberts could cast the deciding vote to disclose or shield Trump’s financial records and may tip the scale in other hot-button cases that involve LGBT and abortion rights and the deportation status of nearly 700,000 young undocumented immigrants.

Decisions in these politically charged disputes should arrive this summer, just months before Americans head to the polls to determine if Trump gets a second term in the White House.

Trump and Roberts have at times had a difficult relationship.

The chief justice pushed back in a speech after the president branded a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals "an Obama judge" for a 2018 decision that Trump disagreed with.

"We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges," Roberts responded at the time, defending the federal judiciary.

Trump would later say that he held "a lot of respect" for Roberts, even as the president doubled down on his criticism of the appeals court decision.

The political drama surrounding Roberts as he prepares to preside over the impeachment trial is likely to heighten his sensitivity to the public perception of the high court and the judiciary.

The IRS placed lien on Hunter Biden for about $113,000 in unpaid taxes from year he served on Burisma Board

The IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden for $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015, according to records the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained.

Biden served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners in 2015.

Biden has been accused of refusing to provide basic information about his finances in an ongoing paternity case in Arkansas.

The IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden seeking $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015, according to records the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained.

The federal agency issued the previously unreported lien in November 2018 and it seeks unpaid taxes for a year in which Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners.

“We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid,” the IRS stated in the lien notice, which it filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds. “Therefore, there is a lien in favor of the United States on all property and rights to property belonging to this taxpayer for the amount of these taxes.”

The tax lien was issued against Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Biden, but was delivered to the same address Hunter Biden has on file with Connecticut’s Judicial Branch, an address that is also linked to his law firm, Owasco PC.

It does not appear that Hunter Biden has resolved his tax debt to the IRS. No corresponding lien release form has been filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, did not return multiple requests for comment asking whether Hunter Biden’s unpaid taxes from 2015 were related to his work with Burisma or BHR Partners and whether the lien has been released.

Washington, D.C., also placed a tax lien against Hunter and Kathleen Biden for $48,929 in unpaid income taxes for 2015. Records show the city released the lien in August 2017.

Hunter Biden was appointed to the board of Burisma in 2014, a post he held until 2019. Hunter Biden did not receive any direct compensation from Burisma — rather, the Ukrainian company wired funds to Rosemont Seneca Bohai (RSB), an American firm controlled by Hunter Biden’s longtime business partner Devon Archer. Between June 2014 and October 2015, RSB wired a total of $708,302 to Hunter Biden each month for undisclosed purposes while RSB was receiving funds from Burisma.

Over 500 election clerks in Michigan are not accredited to run the state’s elections

More than 500 election clerks in Michigan have not been properly accredited to run the state’s elections, according to a recent audit.

“Local election clerks did not meet legal training requirements in 32 counties, 83 cities and 426 townships, a report from the office of Michigan’s auditor general found,” according to the Hill.

Page 19 of Auditor General Doug A. Ringler’s report stated:

We also reviewed other local election officials to determine if any election officials in those areas were fully accredited. We identified 12 counties, 38 cities, and 290 townships where the clerk had not completed the initial accreditation or continuing education training requirements and no other local election official had achieved full accreditation.

Even though the Bureau of Elections (BOE) directly assigned clerks training and continuing education through an online portal and notified them of the required training via weekly newsletters, the BOE does not have the authority to enforce participation.

“We recommend that BOE improve its process to promote accreditation to help ensure that local election officials are fully trained and updated on Michigan’s election process,” the document said.

However, Highland Park City clerk Brenda Green told the Detroit Free Press that she has “done everything the state has asked [her] to do to stay accredited,” stating, “I can’t understand how that information is incorrect.”

“I will be reaching out to them,” Green noted.

Ecorse City clerk Dana Hughes called the auditor general’s findings a “lie” and said she and her deputy have remained compliant and accredited since 2014.

“The audit is a snapshot in time, based on records in May of this year, and it is possible some local clerks and other election officials have received full accreditation since the report was released,” the Press stated.

Friday, Michigan State Department spokesperson Jake Rollow said about 97 percent of clerks had completed the accreditation requirements but added that some areas needed more attention.

“The Bureau has taken steps to address some areas identified in the report, and will continue to make further improvements in 2020 and beyond,” he concluded.

HP Enterprise Stock Slides After WSJ Report Company Was "Overrun" With Chinese Hackers

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) stock is sliding after a solid open following an investigative report from The Wall Street Journal found the company was "overrun" with Chinese hackers.WSJ notes that cybersecurity investigators first identified aspects of the hack, called Cloud Hopper by the security researchers who first uncovered it, in 2016, and U.S. prosecutors charged two Chinese nationals for the global operation last December. The two men remain at large.

Cloud Hopper was something new for APT10 (short for Advanced Persistent Threat), one of China’s most evasive hacking collectives, according to researchers.

“You know the old joke of, why rob a bank?” said Anne Neuberger, the chief of the National Security Agency’s cybersecurity directorate. “Because that’s where the money is.”

HPE spokesman Adam Bauer said the company “worked diligently to remediate these intrusions for our customers,” adding that “the security of customer data is our top priority.”

“We strongly dispute any allegation that HPE was anything less than fully cooperative with government authorities from the outset,” Mr. Bauer said. “To suggest otherwise is patently false.”
