To become an Illuminati Sorcerer (high level, sorcerer's guild) you must pass The Test.
It's actually bullshit - made up as a filter, otherwise everyone would want to become a high level sorcerer.
The sorcerer's apprentices meet in a field outside of San Francisco around a bonfire close to a tree.
A child is brought out and placed in front of each sorcerer. The child is told that this sorcerer is about to kill them - and they must run.
And run they do - and the sorcerers chase down their respective children and stab them through the heart with their ceremonial sword.
If the sorcerer's apprentice hesitates / refuses - another apprentice will kill their child. That apprentice then gets to kill the failed apprentice - they are held against the tree, chest exposed, and the successful apprentice stabs them with his sword through the heart - supposedly absorbing his energy.
This is entirely made up - and serves no purpose other than to prevent Illuminati members from wanting to become high level sorcerers.
Many of the older high level sorcerers themselves would not have passed such a test.
How fucked up is that?
