Prince Andrew's links with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein are set to come under further scrutiny with the release of hundreds of files from a defamation case in the New Year.

US Judge Loretta Preska has ruled that documents relating to more than 170 people who were either associates, friends or victims of the multi-millionaire sex offender should be made public. They are currently referred to only as J.Doe.

They include 40 documents of evidence from Johanna Sjoberg, who has claimed Prince Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a couch inside the US billionaire's Manhattan apartment in 2001.

Writing on X, Ms Giuffre said: 'Finally we are hearing members of the US government senators about the need for transparency and a call to arms for accountability!!

The individuals who are set to be named in the documents will have 14 days to appeal against the judge's decision - meaning they could be released in early January.

Ms Giuffre settled her civil claim against Maxwell, but representatives of the media have since argued documents that were sealed as part of the case should be made public.

A pilot and news photographer have been tragically killed in a horrific helicopter crash in New Jersey.

The two-person crew were on board ABC Action News' Chopper 6 when it crashed in a wooded area of Burlington County on Tuesday night.

It's unclear what caused the devastating crash at this time.

A Philadelphia news helicopter captured footage of the crash site, which is extremely difficult to access due to it being deep in the woods.

Officials were contacted about a missing chopper at about 11pm EST - a few hours before a state park police officer found a debris field.

New Jersey State Police rushed to the scene to seal it off and the Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation.

A big storm will swing in from the Pacific Ocean and could bring a month's worth of rain through the end of the week that could top what Hilary delivered along the coast of Southern California. Enough rain will fall to lead to major travel problems due to flash flooding and debris flows from the California coast to portions of Arizona, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.

Some areas of coastal Southern California may even pick up more rain than when Hilary delivered back in August.

The same storm has been drenching areas in Northern and Central California into midweek while remaining largely offshore over the Pacific. However, during the latter part of the week, the storm will push southward and turn inland over Southern California with drenching and problematic results.

"This storm will deliver a month's worth of rain in about 24 hours to portions of Southern California and Arizona," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.

The heaviest rain and worst travel conditions will affect Santa Barbara, California, from Wednesday night to Thursday night while the Los Angeles area will be hit the hardest from Thursday through Thursday night. The zone from San Diego to Palm Springs, California, is likely to be blasted by the heaviest rain from Thursday night to Friday morning.

"While the low-lying coastal areas from Los Angeles to San Diego are likely to pick up a general 1-4 inches of rain from the slow-moving storm, the mountains from Santa Barbara County to Ventura and Los Angeles counties will pick up much heavier amounts ranging from 6-8 inches and locally more," retired AccuWeather Western Weather Expert, and California native, Ken Clark said.

As the rain pours down, water will collect in low spots on area streets and highways, leading to ponding. Any debris blocking storm drains can result in more serious urban flooding.

Streams and rivers will surge in the area as many lakes and reservoirs are near full capacity and may not be able to absorb the runoff as well as they did last year during widespread drought.

Dry streambeds, called arroyos, will quickly fill with water and may become raging torrents. As such, AccuWeather forecasters urge people to stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions that may prompt quick action and possible evacuations.

Roads in hilly locations and outlying areas may become blocked. The pouring rain can lead to road washouts, landslides and mudslides. Where there have been recent wildfires, debris flows are possible.

"With all the rain and the problems it will create, commutes will be difficult, and motorists will need to seek alternate routes as traffic will be snarled from Thursday to Friday," Clark said.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A federal judge on Tuesday allowed the Arlington National Cemetery to remove a century-old Confederate memorial one day after blocking the removal over a report that gravesites were disturbed.

At a hearing in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, U.S. District Judge Rossie Alston said he issued the temporary injunction Monday after receiving an urgent phone call from the memorial’s supporters saying that gravesites adjacent to the memorial were being desecrated as contractors began work to remove the memorial.

He said he toured the site before Tuesday’s hearing and saw the site being treated respectfully.

Alston issued an 18-page opinion Tuesday evening to lift the injunction. He said the allegations that the removal efforts amounted to grave desecration “were, at best, ill-informed and, at worst, inaccurate.”

Cemetery officials sought to have the injunction lifted quickly. They said they are required by law to complete the removal by the end of the year and that the contractors doing the work have only limited availability over the next week or so.

In a statement Tuesday evening, the cemetery said it “will resume the deliberate process of removing the Confederate Memorial from Arlington National Cemetery immediately. While the work is performed, surrounding graves, headstones and the landscape will be carefully protected.”

An independent commission recommended removal of the memorial last year in conjunction with a review of Army bases with Confederate names.

Israeli PM Netanyahu has levelled an allegation against Pakistan that the Hamas fighters which are engaged in war in Gaza, are being supported by Pakistan, and the ISI which was instrumental in pushing out the occupying Soviet forces from Afghanistan in 1989, and the US-NATO forces in Aug 2021, is now physically involved in Gaza. He said that the Hamas and ISI are jointly fighting the Israeli forces in Gaza Strip.

What he implies is that Hamas at its own couldn’t have planned and executed such a daring three pronged offensive against Israel on 27 Oct, and it couldn’t have withstood the aerial bombardments and ground offensive of the IDF for such a long period at its own.

Like the USA and India, Israel is proving itself to be another bad loser. To hide its embarrassment of not being able to eliminate the Hamas within a few days, and suffering casualties daily, it is now blaming Pakistan for its failure.

Why doesn’t Netanyahu admit that Israel is the most pampered and supported country of the USA and the West, and has become the strongest power of the Middle East due to extensive backup support of the western world.

Israel wouldn’t have come on the map of the world without Britain’s role, and couldn’t have continued to gobble up more and more Palestinians territory, and continued to oppress the besieged Palestinians unabatedly for the last 75 years without the full back up support of the USA, Britain and France, and of course the Zionists.

Even the babies in incubators were not spared. Many have died a painful death under the rubble.

No place in Gaza is safe, and the city has turned into a rubble and children graveyard. The dead are being buried on roadsides and playing grounds because the graveyards are fully choked. The injured devoid of doctors, medical staff and medicine are left to die. Neither the evacuation of the injured, nor the humanitarian aid is being allowed. Gaza is without water, fuel, food, electricity supply since 8 Oct. One week truce which ended on Dec 1st, was hardly of any help.

The destruction and bloodshed is continuing unabatedly and the whole world as well as the UNSC, UN, ICJ, ICC, Human rights etc are helplessly watching the genocide.

Only Israel and India, the two darlings of the USA, can indulge in this sort of mayhem, arson, genocide and destruction, and get away with it.

On December 20 morning, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had carried out a series of airstrikes against targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The targets include military sites where Hezbollah members operated and other infrastructure, according to the IDF. Lebanese media said that the airstrikes hit the outskirts of the town of Ayta al-Shab, which is a known stronghold of Hezbollah.

Following the strikes, Hezbollah announced in four separate statements that its fighters shelled the al-Abad site, fired Burkan heavy rockets at the al-Raheb site, targeted IDF howitzers near the Khirbet Maar village site and hit an Israeli infantry force in the Birkat Risha site.

In another statement, the group also said that it had fired anti-aircraft missiles at two Israeli attack helicopters which were operating over the settlements of Shtula, Shumira and Even Menachem, forcing them to retreat. This was later confirmed by the IDF, which also reported a rocket attack on northern Israel.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” according to the statements released by Hezbollah.

The IDF announced the second wave of airstrikes on southern Lebanon in the afternoon. The airstrikes hit military buildings, rocket launch sites, a command center, and a weapons depot of Hezbollah. The IDF also said that it had carried out tank and artillery shelling at areas along the Lebanon border, to “remove threats.”

Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon didn’t result in any civilian casualties. However, Hezbollah said that two of its fighters were killed “on the road to Jerusalem.”

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the clashes on the border have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of seven IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 120 have been killed. The toll includes 108 Hezbollah members, ten of whom were killed in Syria, 16 Palestinian fighters, at least 14 civilians and three journalists.

DC Council Member Vincent Gray won't seek reelection in 2024

D.C. Council Member and former mayor Vincent Gray won’t seek reelection in 2024, he announced Wednesday, just over two years after he suffered a stroke.

Gray, 81, said serving in the District government has been one of the greatest honors of his life in a statement, but the mission to make the District a better place will never be complete.

"I will continue to be an advocate for our city and the people who call it home, but the time has come for me to pursue that as a private citizen,” Gray said.

Gray plans to serve out the rest of his term as Ward 7 Council Member until it ends in January 2025.

Gray said his final year in office won’t be different than any others.

“The council member has occupied a big space in Ward 7 politics for a long time,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser, who defeated Gray when he ran for reelection as mayor in 2014.

“I think he can look back on lots of years in elective office where he's contributed a lot to the District … I know those decisions aren't easy to make, and I wish him well,” she added.

Gray served as D.C.’s mayor from 2011 to 2015 after running on a "One City" platform aiming to unite the diverse District. He lost his 2014 reelection campaign amid a long-running federal probe into a shadow campaign scandal that helped elect Gray mayor in 2010. Prosecutors ended that probe without charging Gray.

Two years later, he returned to elected office as the Ward 7 Council Member. According to his website biography, he pushed for school reform and government transparency.

In 2020, Gray won the Democratic primary with about 48% of the vote in his 2020 primary, ensuring an easy path to reelection to the council.

Gray had a “mild stroke” in 2021. According to The Washington Post, other council members became concerned about his health in the following months.

Ward 7 voters will choose a new representative at the June 4 primary and Nov. 5 general election next year. Longtime political analyst and former News4 reporter Tom Sherwood said he expects at least a dozen people to run for Gray’s seat. Even before his announcement, six candidates had filed run for the seat. Bowser said Wednesday that she will consider whether or not to endorse a candidate.

He repeatedly donated to former President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign during his tenure with the Senate, Federal Elections Commission (FEC) records show.

The DHS appointed Bookbinder and 32 other new members to HSAC in March 2022 ahead of the council’s first meeting under Secretary Mayorkas. -Daily Caller

Never wanting to waste an opportunity to out-hawk everyone else, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham issued a blistering response to fresh reports that Chinese President Xi Jinping directly warned President Joe Biden during their recent summit in San Francisco that China will move to unify Taiwan with the mainland.

Graham expressed outrage and called for bipartisan efforts to work toward urgently beefing up Taiwan's defenses and military capabilities. "This story as reported is beyond unnerving," Graham stated on X Wednesday. "I will be working with Democratic and Republican Senators to do two things quickly. First, create a robust defense supplemental for Taiwan and second, draft pre-invasion sanctions from hell to impose on China if they take action to seize Taiwan."

The senator from South Carolina then warned Beijing directly, saying: "To communist China, if you think you can bully your way into destroying world order without consequences, you will be making Putin's decision to invade Ukraine look wise."

Specifically he was responding to a widely circulating NBC report published Wednesday which for the first time unveils new details surrounding Xi's San Francisco trip in mid-November.

Multiple current and former officials said Xi very bluntly told Biden that Taiwan will be reunified and that the only undecided factor is the timing. "Xi told Biden in a group meeting attended by a dozen American and Chinese officials that China’s preference is to take Taiwan peacefully, not by force," according to the sources.

And further unexpected was how specific Xi got in his words to Biden:

The Chinese leader also referenced public predictions by U.S. military leaders who say that Xi plans to take Taiwan in 2025 or 2027, telling Biden that they were wrong because he has not set a time frame, according to the two current and one former official briefed on the meeting.

Xi was likely more emboldened to convey a tough, direct message given the White House rejected earlier requests regarding a sought after statement on Taiwan. The White House is said to have rejected the following request going into the summit:

Chinese officials also asked in advance of the summit that Biden make a public statement after the meeting saying that the United States supports China’s goal of peaceful unification with Taiwan and does not support Taiwanese independence, they said.

Venezuela has agreed to release 36-prisoners, including 10 Americans, in exchange for one ally of embattled President Nicolas Maduro.

On Wednesday, details of the prisoner swap announced that the U.S. government will be releasing Colombian businessman Alex Saab in exchange for 36 people. Saab is accused of helping Maduro defraud the oil-rich nation by serving as his top money-launderer.

The White House released a statement regarding securing the release of the Americans detained in Venezuela. Of the 10 Americans being released, six were wrongfully detained.

President Biden ignored shouted questions from reporters about the exchange on Wednesday morning.

However, Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed it during his end of the year press conference.

“We want to make sure that our fellow Americans are released,” Blinken reiterated. “We are also focused on political prisoners in Venezuela and trying to ensure their release. So, what I can say in this moment is this: we have a lot of work going on both of those fronts right now, and we hope to have some good news to share probably later today.”

As has been the case with previous prisoner exchanges, the swap is likely to take place in a third country.

Thanks to a soaring stock market, the wealthy are feeling very good about things right now, but the rest of the country is really hurting.

Homelessness is rising at the fastest pace ever recorded, the number of children that are suffering from hunger is rapidly growing, and more than 60 percent of all Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. The mainstream media continues to insist that the economy is in good shape, but how can that possibly be true if nearly two-thirds of the entire nation is just barely scraping by?

According to brand new numbers that were just released, the percentage of U.S. adults that live paycheck to paycheck has actually increased by 4 percent just since the month of March…

Sixty-two percent of adults in December said they live paycheck to paycheck, up from 58 percent in March.

Forty percent of consumers living paycheck to paycheck have super-prime credit scores.

Fifty-seven percent of consumers who own credit cards are living paycheck to paycheck.

Yikes!

But even though most of the country is living on the edge financially, 96 percent of shoppers say that they plan to “overspend” this holiday season…

This year, holiday spending from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31 is expected to increase between 3% and 4% over last year to a record total of $957.3 billion to $966.6 billion, according to the National Retail Federation.

Even as credit card debt tops $1 trillion, almost all — or 96% — of shoppers said they expect to overspend this season, a separate TD Bank survey found.

Half of consumers plan to take on more debt to cover those holiday expenses, according to another report by Ally Bank. Only 23% have a plan to pay it off within one to two months.

Are you kidding me?

Needless to say, those numbers are yet another confirmation of what I wrote about yesterday.

We just can’t help ourselves.

No matter how much we already have, we always feel the need to have more.

Indeed, I can disclose that a corporate filing published this week shows a company set up to manage Prince Andrew's private investments has somehow secured £210,000 worth of funding in the form of non-redeemable shares.

Urramoor Limited, of which the Duke of York is listed as having 'significant control', incorporated in 2013 and was £208,000 in the red when latest accounts were revealed.

However, according to a recently filed share allotment document, a total of 210,402 shares, with a nominal value of £1 each, were allocated on December 14, 2023 — which just about pulls the company out of debt, providing it's not lost even more money since 2022.

This would be a first for Urramoor, which has never been profitable in the nine sets of accounts it has filed since its creation.

The company's director, Arthur Lancaster, also runs Doug Barrowman's firm AML Tax Ltd, which was found to be running tax avoidance schemes earlier this year by HM Revenue and Customs.

Barrowman himself, meanwhile, faced the media spotlight this week, after a car crash interview with his wife, disgraced Conservative peer and lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone, revealed the couple stands to benefit from £60million in profits from a notorious PPE deal that she previously denied any connection with.

Andrew, 63, however, is sure to be delighted with the inexplicable investment — and would likely have a few words of advice for Barrowman, should Lancaster put them in touch.

'We're all cogs in a huge bloody machine, yeah?' he reflected in a promotional interview for his other venture, Pitch@Palace.

'Some of us have the advantage of being able to activate more cogs than other people. That's all it is.'

The interview was originally scheduled to be in person but was conducted virtually after O'Donnell tested positive for COVID.

Harris has faced repeated criticism for her 'word salads' in interviews.

At a music festival in New Orleans in July she repeatedly defined the word 'culture' then laughed in a way critics describe as 'maniacal' or a 'cackle.'

An artificial intelligence tool can detect autism spectrum disorder with 100-percent accuracy, just by scanning images of children's eyes, according to a new study.

If confirmed, this would be a major breakthrough for detecting the condition. But multiple autism experts told DailyMail.com that the number is unrealistic, and the result is probably 'too good to be true.'

Autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the US, but many children remain undiagnosed until later in childhood, depriving them of potential therapies. If a technological solution could help cut down on long waits for autism specialists or other obstacles to diagnosis, it could benefit millions of families.

Autism is a condition involving altered brain development, and the optic nerve connects the retina to the brain in a very short path.

So it stands to reason that brain differences could be reflected in the eyes.

Dozens of news outlets picked up on the news of the AI tool, developed by a team of researchers at Yonsei University in Seoul. But experts say it is too soon to trust these findings, and that the research raises multiple red flags - starting with that 100 percent accuracy figure.

'There is clearly something wrong here,' Fred Shic, an autism researcher at Yale School of Medicine, told DailyMail.com. Shic researches eye tracking and imaging techniques in autistic children. There is no way that this test is more accurate than doctors, he told DailyMail.com. 'That reliability is not 100 percent, even amongst the best clinicians in the world.'

Other autism experts share Shic's skepticism. 'It just seems too good to be true,' Cathy Lord, distinguished professor of psychiatry at the University of California Los Angeles, told DailyMail.com. Lord is the co-creator of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2), the gold-standard clinical tool used to assess the children in the new study.

'It seems worth trying to replicate but I'm very skeptical,' she added.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the study's authors and will update this story if we receive a response.

The study in question involved 958 children: 479 with autism and 479 without autism.

Both groups had the same split of boys and girls - 82 percent boys and 18 percent girls - which lines up with the 4:1 sex ratio found in most countries.

The researchers fed images of children's retinas to train the algorithm, excluding children with other psychiatric conditions that could complicate or confuse the results.

Specialists screened the children with the ADOS-2 to confirm that they had autism and to assess how pronounced their autism traits were.

A deep neural network was trained to use iris scans to differentiate between the children with and without autism. It also learned how to connect autism trait severity to the retinal scans.

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman Steve Daines (R-MT) donated to former President Donald Trump’s legal defense fund after the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified him from the state’s presidential primary ballot, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

Daines donated $5,000 from his leadership PAC to Trump’s defense fund after the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified the 45th president from the ballot over the Fourteenth Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.”

“What happened in Colorado was a disgrace to our country and our democracy,” Daines said in a written statement. “Democrats are using an underhanded strategy of legal warfare and election interference to take President Trump out because they know Joe Biden’s record of open borders, high prices, and out-of-control crime is indefensible. I’m proud to stand with President Trump as he fights to Make America Great Again.”

Daines and the NRSC also plan to file an amicus brief with the Supreme Court, arguing that it should reverse the Colorado decision.

“The court found by clear and convincing evidence that President Trump engaged in insurrection as those terms are used in Section Three” of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Colorado Supreme Court ruling reads.

In his dissent, Chief Justice Boatright wrote:

Dismissal is particularly appropriate here because the Electors brought their challenge without a determination from a proceeding (e.g., a prosecution for an insurrection-related offense) with more rigorous procedures to ensure adequate due process.

The court’s determination that Trump engaged in an insurrection comes even though the former president has never been convicted of that or any other crime. He also has never been charged with committing an insurrection. The U.S. Senate acquitted Trump of insurrection charges, and Trump has denied any wrongdoing.

Trump campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, issued a statement reading:

'In 234 years of American history, no President ever faced criminal prosecution for his official acts. Until 19 days ago ...'

Attorneys for former President Donald Trump told the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday that special counsel Jack Smith has misrepresented the case against the former president in the high court.

They argued that prosecutors have requested the case be tried "at breakneck speed," and urged caution, opposing the request. "The petition for writ of certiorari before judgment should be denied," the new brief reads.

Mr. Smith asked the court to consider "whether absolute presidential immunity extends to 'crimes committed while in office,'" the brief reads, but President Trump has "asserted that a President is immune from prosecution for official acts."

Mr. Smith is prosecuting a criminal case against President Trump in federal court, alleging the former president tried to overturn the 2020 election results.

On Dec. 11, prosecutors asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on the case, which is pending in the appeals court.

The issue at hand was whether the Supreme Court should review the case on an expedited basis.

President Trump presented the Supreme Court with two other questions: Whether the absolute immunity conferred to a president "includes immunity from criminal prosecution for a President's official acts," and whether the impeachment proceedings and subsequent acquittals would make the prosecution foreclosed based on the principles of double jeopardy.

What Is Presidential Immunity?

A 1982 Supreme Court opinion for a case against President Richard Nixon resulted in the "absolute immunity" referred to in many of the defenses President Trump is now raising in court.

The case in question was a civil case, not a criminal case, brought by a former Air Force analyst who alleged he lost his position because of testimony he gave before Congress.

In Nixon v. Fitzgerald, the Supreme Court found the president absolutely immune from suit, and extended that immunity to the "outer perimeters" of their office.

This ruling was meant to protect presidents from being sued personally for their decisions in office, with the rationale that it would diminish the Office of the President of the United States if one could serve in office, and leave only to find a barrage of legal action against oneself.

“[T]he President [is] the chief constitutional officer of the Executive Branch, entrusted with supervisory and policy responsibilities of utmost discretion and sensitivity,” the opinion reads.

This grants presidents immunity from civil suits.

Immunity from criminal prosecution is a new issue.

Unprecedented

The Wednesday court filing emphasized the unprecedented nature of the case, and the question before the court.

"In 234 years of American history, no President ever faced criminal prosecution for his official acts. Until 19 days ago, no court had ever addressed whether immunity from such prosecution exists," the brief reads.

Trump attorneys are arguing the question is a "momentous" one that would naturally take the court time to consider, and are opposing an expedited review. Furthermore, the case is already being considered in the appeals court, and it is not typical for the Supreme Court to intervene at this stage.

The Nixon v. Fitzgerald opinion was issued after about a year, whereas in the current case, "the sum total of judicial grappling with this issue is one 19-day-old district court opinion."

"The Special Counsel ... confuses the 'public interest' with the manifest partisan interest in ensuring that President Trump will be subjected to a months-long criminal trial at the height of a presidential campaign where he is the leading candidate and the only serious opponent of the current Administration," they argued.

“We hope it could result in a “Paris moment” for water – with outcomes as critical for water as the Paris Agreement has been for climate action,” Henk Ovink and Sulton Rahimzoda said.

Ovink is the Special Envoy for International Water Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Rahimzoda is the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Water and Climate Coalition Leaders.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW)is a legal advocacy group withprevious connections with political strategist David Brock. The organization describes itself as a “nonpartisan” watchdog group directing litigation against government corruption in an effort to advance the public interest.The group is part of Brock’s network of organizationsincluding Democratic-aligned opposition research Super PAC American Bridge 21st Century (AB PAC) and media criticism organization Media Matters for America.1

The organization has been recognized as having “played instrumental roles in building a stronger, more integrated progressive infrastructure” by the Democracy Alliance.2 CREW has received funding from left-of-center foundations, including philanthropistGeorge Soros’ Open Society Foundations and singer Barbra Streisand’s Streisand Foundation.3

CREW has received criticism for the appearance of pay-for-play advocacy on behalf of for-profit universities. 4

History and Founding

In 2001, several individuals affiliated with the Democratic Party operatives founded CREW as a rejoinder to right-leaning legal advocacy groups such as Judicial Watch, the Rutherford Institute and the National Legal and Policy Center. The organization’s founding directors were: Louis Mayberg, a Democratic party donor, and co-founder of the Maryland-based ProFund Advisors LLC; Daniel Berger, another Democratic party donor who in 2004 made a $100,000 contribution to America Coming Together; and Mark Penn, a fellow at the New Politics Institute, and a Democratic strategist who worked on President Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign and on Hillary Clinton’s 2000 U.S. Senate campaign. Norman L. Eisen, another Democratic Party operative, played a role in the group’s 2001 founding, although, he was not listed as a director.5

When they initially conceived of CREW, both Eisen and Mayberg said that the organization was intended to even the playing field against conservative legal groups that had weakened the political position of President Bill Clinton during the 1990s.6 Melanie Sloan, another longtime Democratic operative, was listed as the executive director on the 2013 990 form with an annual salary of $260,699. She is no longer with the organization.

Prior to joining CREW, Sloan served as the nominations counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-Delaware), in 1993. She was also counsel for the crime subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee under then-U.S. Representative Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) in 1994 and served as minority counsel for the House Judiciary Committee under Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan) from 1995 to 1998.7

CREW’s Left-Wing Funders

CREW is funded by a long list of left-wing organizations and foundations. They include liberal foundations, labor unions, and interest groups looking for support from CREW.

Liberal Mega-Donors

CREW’s principal source of funding is ideologically liberal/left-wing foundations. In 2013 (the most recent year for which complete tax records are available), these groups paid CREW grants equal to 55% of its total reported contribution/grant revenue.

Among the foundations that have made significant contributions to CREW in recent years:

The Foundation to Promote Open Society (controlled by liberal billionaire financier George Soros and his family): $740,000 since 2010

The Open Society Institute (another foundation controlled by Soros): $150,000 in 2010

The Bohemian Foundation (controlled by Colorado Democratic donor Pat Stryker and her political operatives): $850,000 since 2010

Gill Foundation (private foundation of Colorado Democratic mega-donor Tim Gill): $608,615 since 2010

Dyson Foundation (family foundation of the late Charles Dyson, an FDR Administration official, leveraged-buyout titan, and longtime board member of liberal group Common Cause): $500,000 since 2011

The foundation funders of CREW, many of which are members of or otherwise linked with the Democracy Alliance group of liberal megadonors, clearly demonstrate the partisan and ideological alignment of the organization. Among the groups in the Democracy Alliance’s funding orbit is one of CREW’s stablemates in the David Brock liberal group empire, Media Matters for America.

CREW has been rumored previously to be involved with both the Democracy Alliance and the similar, union- and environmentalist-convened Democracy Initiative.

Oddly for a group that is outraged whenever a conservative or Republican group obtains confidential funding, CREW reportedly has solicited or assisted liberal and Democratic groups doing just that. Politico reported on a 2010 Democracy Alliance conference that CREW’s Melanie Sloan attended: One attendee told the reporter, “The agreement is that everything that goes on here is confidential.” In attendance were many Democratic donors and left-leaning activists. CREW was also reportedly one of the organizations formally represented at the conference: Sloan refused to comment on her participation.

Labor Union Support

CREW receives notable direct support from labor organizations. Under labor law, unions may direct member dues to lobbying and advocacy groups like CREW. Analyses indicate that liberal organizations receive nearly all of unions’ political money.

Since CREW’s founding, unions have contributed $245,000 to its efforts. Perhaps unsurprisingly, CREW has strongly attacked unions’ foes in politics. CREW’s “Worst Governors” report, written in 2013, features 16 Republicans of its 18 politicians attacked, with the only two Democrats being term-limited Steve Beshear of Kentucky and Andrew Cuomo of New York, who was challenged in the 2014 Democratic primaries for insufficient loyalty to the public-employee union cause

Three Galaxies and a Comet

Distant galaxies abound in this one degree wide field of view toward the southern constellation Grus (The Crane). But the three spiral galaxies at the lower right are quite striking. In fact, all three galaxies are grouped about 70 million light years away and sometimes known as the Grus Triplet. They share the pretty telescopic frame, recorded on December 13, with the comet designated C/2020 V2 ZTF. Now outbound from the inner Solar System and swinging below the ecliptic plane in a hyperbolic orbit, the comet was about 29 light-minutes from our fair planet in this image. And though comet ZTF was brighter when it was closest to the Sun last May and closest to Earth in September of 2023, it still shines in telescopes pointed toward southern night skies, remaining almost as bright as the Grus Triplet galaxies.

Top Russian general reveals details of Kiev's failed counteroffensive

Ukraine thought its forces could blockade the city of Melitopol within 15 days, according to Valery Gerasimov

Ukrainianmilitary planners expected swift progress in their summer counteroffensive,which was to culminate in the so-called “land bridge to Crimea” being cut, Gen. Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russian general staff, said on Thursday. He added that the attempt was thwarted by Russian forces.

The senior official briefed foreign military attaches on various aspects of Russia's military strategy,including steps taken to prevent a Ukrainian counteroffensive, which he said was the top priority for the country this year.

“The enemy plan was to blockade Melitopol by the end of the 15th day of the offensive,”Gerasimov said. The Ukrainians then planned to advance towards the Sea of Azov, the city of Mariupol, and the border of Crimea, he added.

Melitopol is a large city in Zaporozhye Region, located some 40 km away from the coast of the Azov Sea and about 15 km away from Molochnyi Lyman, a large coastal estuary connected with it.

Gerasimov noted that the core of the Ukrainian force used in thecounteroffensive consisted of brigades trained and armed by Western nations. The grouping that was supposed to reach the Azov Sea initially included 50 battalions armed with over 230 tanks and more than 1,000 infantry fighting vehicles, half of them Western-made, he reported. The force was later boosted to 80 battalions, according to the general.

Russian troops prepared deep defensive lines to prepare for the planned attack. WhenUkraine launchedit on June 4, it “achieved minor advancement at the cost of colossal losses,” failing to breach “even the tactical zone of our defenses,” he stressed.

Additional supplies of Western weapons and the deployment of strategic reserves by Kiev failed to turn the tide, Gerasimov added. “Hence, the counteroffensive, which Ukraine and its NATO allies had touted widely, failed,”the general stated. The Russian official reiterated that the Ukraine conflict was a “hybrid proxy war against Russia by the US and its allies,” waged with Ukrainian hands. Washington wants to prolong the conflict by providing military assistance to Kiev, he claimed.

Vice President Kamala Harris highlighted the importance of international partnerships and the societal benefits of space exploration, including NASA’s Earth science missions and the agency’s efforts to build a responsible, sustainable human presence in space during the Biden-Harris Administration’s third National Space Council meeting Wednesday, held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington.

“For generations, our nation has led the world in the exploration and use of space,” said Harris. “In the coming years, one of the primary ways we will continue to extend that leadership is by strengthening our international partnerships, combining our resources, scientific capacity, and technical skill with that of our allies and partners around the world, all in furtherance of our collective vision.”

During the meeting, NASA announced it will deepen its partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) by advancing data collection for enhanced air quality monitoring in South America and Africa. Under this effort, NASA and the Italian Space Agency will partner to build and launch the Multi-Angle Imager for Aerosols (MAIA) mission, which is expected to launch in 2025 to enable improved measurements of airborne particulate matter in large metropolitan areas. The mission marks the first time NASA has partnered with epidemiologists and health organizations on a satellite mission to study human health and improve lives.

“NASA is excited to partner with the Italian Space Agency on the MAIA mission while simultaneously strengthening our support for USAID,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy. “Airborne particles pollute some of the world’s most populous cities and have been linked to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as adverse reproductive and birth outcomes. Results from this mission will allow us to better understand the health impacts of pollution in geographically diverse global communities, including our Southern Hemisphere.”

The Vice President also underscored the importance of international partnerships enabling long-duration stays on the Moon and future human missions to Mars.

“In consultation with international and industry partners, NASA has built a cohesive and robust Moon to Mars strategy to enable a responsible, sustainable presence throughout the solar system. Our future depends on partnerships,” said Melroy. “Together, we will strategically advance science, boost our national posture, and inspire a new generation to want to explore the cosmos.”

NASA has welcomed significant development progress and investments by international partners for its Artemis program. The European Space Agency provides the European Service Module, the Orion spacecraft’s powerhouse. Additionally, Canada, Japan, and Europe are contributing to Gateway, a human-tended space station in lunar orbit. Europe and Japan are building the International Habitation Module, Europe is providing the European System Providing Refueling, Infrastructure and Telecommunications (ESPRIT) module, Japan will provide cargo resupply with an upgrade of its H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV-X), and Canada is developing Canadarm3, a robotic arm to perform science utilization and maintenance. With these significant contributions, the United States intends to land an international astronaut on the lunar surface by the end of the decade.

In coordination with the U.S. Department of State, the agency has also welcomed 33 signatories to the Artemis Accords since it was established in 2020, ten in the past year alone. The Artemis Accords establish practical principles to guide space exploration cooperation among nations, including those participating in NASA’s Artemis program. The Accords signatories are holding focused discussions on how best to implement the Artemis Accords principles, including transparency and deconfliction at the Moon.

NASA also highlighted the April 2023 release of the initial Moon to Mars architecture, comprised of the elements needed for long-term, human-led scientific discovery in deep space. NASA recently hosted its second Architecture Concept Review in November and anticipates releasing the outcomes of the annual cycle early in 2024. NASA noted that it is seeking international partnerships for an array of elements identified in the architecture and is in conversation with international space agencies to identify future partnership opportunities.

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—A government and corporate watchdog group filed a complaint Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission against Berkshire Hathaway in connection with the arrest of the group’s chairman at a shareholder meeting for raising issues linking the names of Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Jeffrey Epstein.

National Legal and Policy Center Chairman Peter Flaherty spoke at a shareholder meeting in May in support of a resolution requiring Berkshire Hathaway to have two different people hold the jobs of CEO and chairman of the board. Buffett currently holds both positions.

When Flaherty brought up Buffett’s financial support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, he noted that Gates, the billionaire founder of Microsoft, had traveled with Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

At that point, Buffett called for Flaherty’s ouster from the meeting, and Flaherty was arrested and charged with criminal trespass by police in Omaha, Nebraska, even though his name was on the list of attendees for the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting.

“The almost instantaneous silencing of Mr. Flaherty at the very mention of Epstein obviously struck a nerve with the public that transcends political ideology, underscoring the widely held belief that the rich and powerful play by a different set of rules than ordinary citizens,” says the SEC complaint filed by NLPC counsel Paul Kamenar.

Staring at the computer screen in an office complex not too far from Schriever and Peterson Space Force Bases, a Guardian had a rapidly diminishing timer with only eight minutes left to carefully type in the complex computer code needed to hack an enemy satellite.

The low-Earth orbit satellite, which was traveling at roughly 18,000 miles an hour, was reportedly gathering intelligence about U.S. military assets across the Midwest, Southeast, Gulf of Mexico and Eastern Seaboard on four passes - leaving only a small contact window in which the Guardians could work to stop the enemy from collecting photos and reconnaissance.

Their plan was to slowly redirect the satellite's camera away from its intended targets by a few degrees each pass, a subtle averted gaze so as not to arouse suspicion. But if the enemy noticed any small changes, the Guardians' cover could be blown. One young specialist came up with the idea to send the operator false data, so the enemy would think it was business as usual. Then, once their mission was complete, they'd hack into the logs and erase them, hiding all traces they were even there.

A single mistype could shut down the whole operation or, worse, blow their cover. After the eight minutes, a quiet settled into the laboratory as the contact window closed and connection with the enemy's satellite was lost. It would be another hour before another pass and a chance to inflict further damage on the enemy. In the downtime, the Guardians grabbed snacks, checked their text messages and, at one point, talked about comic book collections.

The November exercise a simulation put on at the nonprofit Stephenson Stellar Corporation's headquarters in Colorado Springs was targeting the "People's Republic of Atlantica," a "small but potent threat" that has "assumed a partnership with a great Power Competitor." The imagined scenario offered a rare glimpse into the very real approaches that Space Force Guardians could use to hack, defend, operate and control an enemy's satellite, strategies the service remains tight-lipped about as it tries to preserve a competitive edge.

On Dec. 20, the Space Force is celebrating four years as a service. The smallest military branch, with around 8,600 service members, it's shrouded in more secrecy than many of the others, leading to a seemingly perpetual question from the public: "What does the Space Force do?"

Americans can see F-35s on an Air Force base's runway. They can see Army soldiers driving Humvees and watch Navy aircraft carriers ship off to sea.

But you can't see outer space and, due to the highly classified nature of the Space Force's operations, broadcasting what it does is often not possible, especially when many Guardians work from sensitive compartmented information facilities, also known as SCIFs, on carefully guarded military installations. Those SCIFs come with special rules about access to cell phones, among other protections meant to keep information from leaking out.

"I don't talk about work, and my wife doesn't really know what I do," said one enlisted Guardian, who didn't want to be named because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media. "It helps when you work in a SCIF; you have to leave work at the door."

But the Space Force's mission statement "secure our Nation's interests in, from, and to space" is a tall order for a small force and encompasses more than just monitoring satellites, keeping an eye out for space debris, or launching the occasional rocket into the atmosphere.

It ranges from operating the global positioning system that helps billions navigate worldwide, detecting missiles being fired across the globe at a moment's notice, and protecting satellites and their networks from being attacked.

At first, the service debuted as a punch line for late-night talk shows, only exacerbated by its Star Trek-ian uniform unveiling, and faced an unclear future following President Donald Trump's one term in office. Trump had been an early proponent of the service, pushing ahead with its creation despite skepticism from lawmakers.

Since then, the service branch has outlived a Netflix comedy show of the same name, seen a historic increase in funding in 2024's annual defense policy bill, and set up commands in the Pacific, Middle East and South Korea.

The piecemeal nature of the unsealing over the years resulted in many documents being released repeatedly, with different redactions each time, creating a puzzle with missing pieces. However, this latest release will apparently have limited redactions — and thus possibly fill in some of the lingering questions about who helped Epstein.

Currently, the rising amount stands at $2,130. From what CWBChicago has uncovered, only two of those tickets have been paid since Johnson’s inauguration as mayor.

Since November 30, the city has issued seizure orders against two of the four mayoral SUVs. Three seizure orders have been issued for one of the SUVs for non-payment of three speed camera tickets. The city issued three more seizure notices against another car for failing to pay two speeding tickets and a red light violation.

We’ve repeatedly asked the mayor’s office about his motorcade’s speeding and red light running habits. We’ve asked who’s supposed to pay the bills and when they will pay up. We’ve asked why the mayor needs to fly through school and park zones at more than 50 mph.

In a piece of old business, one ticket issued to the SUVs during former Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s term remains unpaid. With penalties added, that bill has swelled to $244. We’re not including that in the fines and penalties accrued by Johnson. The unpaid ticket issued to Lightfoot has not resulted in a seizure order.

Haley denies influence in DHEC-Savannah ports decision

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - More questions have arisen over Gov. Nikki Haley's relationship with Department of Health and Environmental Control board members and their decision to approve a permit for the Savannah ports.

Monday, Gov. Haley held a press conference to deny that she had any influence in the decision.

"I stand by everything and I know it's unfortunate in this political world, everybody likes to think there's something behind everything," said Haley. "There's nothing here."

Months ago, DHEC denied Savannah a permit to dredge the river leading into its port. Then, three weeks ago DHEC's board approved the permit.

An investigation has uncovered plane rides and large campaign contributions that some say show a cozy relationship between Gov. Haley and the DHEC board.

Flight records show Gov. Haley flew on DHEC board member Kenyon Wells' plane to the Georgia-South Carolina football game on Sept. 10. Onboard were Wells, his wife, the governor and Michael Haley, three governor staffers and a SLED agent.

Gov. Haley's flight logs also show DHEC Chairman Allen Amsler loaned the governor his plane to fly to Georgetown for a fundraiser.

That flight came exactly one month before DHEC would approve the Savannah port permit.

Gov. Haley appointed Wells and Amsler to the DHEC board in April.

The flight records show both men provided at least five flights between April and October, even during the time DHEC worked out Georgia's dredging permit details.

Democrat Senate Caucus spokesman Phil Bailey says it's easy to see what's going on.

"It's cronyism, it's pay-to-play politics, and unfortunately our state's economy is suffering," said Bailey. "The Port of Charleston stands to lose big on this deal."

Gov. Haley attended a fundraising event in Georgia just two weeks before DHEC approved the Georgia dredging permit. The event raised money from Georgia businesses to fund Gov. Haley's 2014 re-election campaign.

Before Gov. Haley appointed them to the DHEC board, campaign records show that Kenyon Wells and his family gave the governor $50,000, while DHEC Chair Allen Amsler gave $3,000.

A third DHEC board member and Gov. Haley-appointee gave the governor $570 in 2010.

"This is a governor that promised to be different, to change the status quo, to shake up the good ol' boy system, but look what we have is her stacking an important oversight board with her political cronies," said Bailey. "People that let her use their private aircraft and fly her all over the state to fundraisers. It looks bad and it's just another example of Haley hypocrisy."

We reached out to Gov. Haley to explain the flights. Her spokesman gave us a statement that says in part: "Every member of the DHEC board testified under oath yesterday that neither the governor nor any member of her staff influenced the decision regarding Savannah's ports in any way."

It went on to say the Haleys have been good friends with the Amslers and Wells for years.

As for the two board members themselves, Amsler released a statement Tuesday saying it was offensive for anyone to suggest there was influence. Wells has yet to respond to the allegations.

Beyond Disney, the show’s owners are tied to both pornography and the Chinese Communist Party.

CoComelon Lane, a Netflix program that’s tied to Disney, features a toddler boy dancing in drag for his two gay “dads” as children are encouraged to wear clothes designed for the opposite sex and are told that it’s part of what’s needed to “just be you.”

Making matters even more disturbing, while similar perverse scenes have arisen from shows targeting older children and teenagers, CoComelon Lane’s target audience is babies and the show is rated “TV-Y,” meaning that, according to the standardized television ratings system, the program is supposed to be “suitable for all children,” especially those ages 6 and under.

“How about you break out those moves for your two biggest fans,” the gay “dads” say to the toddler boy as a song scene breaks out on “CoComelon Lane” and children are introduced to pedophilic drag performances.

Seconds later, the boy bursts from a changing room dressed as a female ballerina, donning a tutu and a tiara as he dances beneath rainbow pride colors that are painted on the wall above his head. Similarly, the entire animated room that the child and his gay “dads” are depicted in has a pride-colored theme, with different objects and sections of wall combining to make up the colors of the rainbow.
