Number of civilians killed by Kiev in Donbass named by Russia

The actions of Ukrainian forces have led to 5,000 casualties in the region since 2014, Moscow’s top investigator has said.

Ukrainian forces have killed over 5,000 people in Donbass since 2014, the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Aleksandr Bastrykin, has said. He made his comment while describing the work of his agency in prosecuting the alleged crimes of the “Kiev regime” during the International Youth Legal Forum in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

“[We act] first remotely, then on site. Exposing the instances of mass burials of civilians,” he explained.

There are 138 minors among the victims, for whom the committee seeks to bring justice, Bastrykin revealed. Over 9,500 civilians, including 444 children, were injured in Donbass by Ukrainian fire during the same period of time, the official added.

Earlier this week, the Donetsk People’s Republic claimed over 4,500 of its residents had lost their lives since the start of the escalation of the conflict in Donbass on February 17, days before Moscow launched its military operation. Some 135 children were among those killed, the DPR mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukrainian war crimes stated. Kiev escalated attacks against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in mid-February 2022.

The Censorship-Industrial Complex: Top 50 Organizations To Know

On January 17, 1960, outgoing President and former Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower gave one of the most consequential speeches in American history. Eisenhower for eight years had been a popular president, whose appeal drew upon a reputation as a person of great personal fortitude, who’d guided the United States to victory in an existential fight for survival in World War II. Nonetheless, as he prepared to vacate the Oval Office for handsome young John F. Kennedy, he warned the country it was now at the mercy of a power eve he could not overcome.

Until World War II, America had no permanent arms manufacturing industry. Now it did, and this new sector, Eisenhower said, was building up around itself a cultural, financial, and political support system accruing enormous power. This “conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience,” he said, adding:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes… Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

This was the direst of warnings, but the address has tended in the popular press to be ignored. After sixty-plus years, most of America – including most of the American left, which traditionally focused the most on this issue – has lost its fear that our arms industry might conquer democracy from within.

Now, however, we’ve unfortunately found cause to reconsider Eisenhower’s warning.

While the civilian population only in recent years began haggling over “de-platforming” incidents involving figures like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos, government agencies had already long been advancing a new theory of international conflict, in which the informational landscape is more importantly understood as a battlefield than a forum for exchanging ideas. In this view, “spammy” ads, “junk” news, and the sharing of work from “disinformation agents” like Jones aren’t inevitable features of a free Internet, but sorties in a new form of conflict called “hybrid warfare.”

In 1996, just the Internet was becoming part of daily life in America, the U.S. Army published “Field Manual 100-6,” which spoke of “an expanding information domain termed the Global Information Environment” that contains “information processes and systems that are beyond the direct influence of the military.” Military commanders needed to understand that “information dominance” in the “GIE” would henceforth be a crucial element for “operating effectively.”

CIA Operatives Aided in Hunter Biden Laptop Cover-Up, Congress Reveals Massive, China-Linked Influence Peddling Scheme.

The U.S. Congress’s Oversight and Weaponization committees have respectively confirmed swathes of 2020 National Pulse reporting into family business practices of President Joe Biden, revealing what appears to be an influence peddling grift involving his son Hunter as well as eight other family members.

The reports also confirm that the U.S. national intelligence apparatus aided and abetted the Bidens in covering up their links to Chinese Communist-linked entities that were paying massive amounts in exchange for political favors, as well as attempting to delegitimize the release of Hunter Biden’s laptop and its contents.

The Biden Family Grift.

The first memo, from Rep. James Comer, concludes:

Biden family members and business associates created a web of over 20 companies—most were limited liability companies formed during Joe Biden’s vice presidency;

Bank records show the Biden family, their business associates, and their companies received over $10 million from foreign nationals’ companies. The Committee has identified payments to Biden family members from foreign companies while Joe Biden served as Vice President and after he left public office.

complicated financial transactions appear to conceal the source of the funds and reduce the conspicuousness of the total amounts made into the Biden bank accounts.

Chinese nationals and companies with significant ties to Chinese intelligence and the Chinese Communist Party hid the source of the funds by layering domestic limited liability companies.

The memo also confirms that after he assumed the vice presidency in 2009, Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden and his business associates formed at least 15 companies, which processed transfers ranging from approximately $5,000 to at least $3 million. It also confirms the $80,000 diamond gift to Hunter Biden from Chinese Communist Ye Jianming in 2017, as well as providing examples of how the Biden foreign money was moved around:

Weaponization.

A second report out from Congress’s Weaponization committee examines how a letter signed by 51 intelligences operatives aided the Biden campaign in its cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop that led to the revelations above, and more.

The report confirms a number of bombshell revelations including a major admission from former acting CIA director Michael Morell, who admitted in testimony to drafting the statement from 51 former intelligence officials with a view to “help[ing] Vice President Biden in the debate.”

Morell and his colleague Marc Polymeropoulos even went so far as to exchange text messages boasting about their efforts duping the American public into believe the hard drive was “Russian disinformation” and suggested there may be jobs, or money involved as a reward.

That admission came against the backdrop of America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) itself “fast tracking” the letter, and even reportedly approaching former intelligence officials with a view to having them sign onto the letter too, which they did. In effect, the CIA aided a foreign-linked presidential campaign (that of the Bidens) against the sitting Commander-in-Chief, President Trump.

Asked about his role in the letter, Morell confirmed to Congress: “[T]here were two intentions here, right? One was to make clear to the American people that the Russians were interfering in the election, and the other was to help Vice President Biden in the debate.”

Asked why he and his fellow signatories to the now-infamous letter wanted to help Joe Biden, Morrel responded: “Because I wanted him to win the election.”

FBI Denies Request For Nashville Shooter’s Manifesto, Writings

Despite multiple requests for the release of Nashville Christian school shooter Audrey Hale’s manifesto and writings surrounding her March 27 attack that left three 9-year-olds and three adults dead, the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation denied a request from The Epoch Times for those documents.

The reason the FBI cited in a letter to an Epoch Times reporter based in Tennessee is that U.S. Code exempts from disclosure “records or information compiled for law enforcement records or information… could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings…”

Those “enforcement proceedings” were not cited in the letter. It is unclear what the enforcement proceedings could be in reference to, as the main suspect, Audrey Elizabeth Hale, died at the scene of the attack.

The FBI’s letter further stated “the records responsive to your request are law enforcement records; there is a pending or prospective law enforcement proceeding relevant to these responsive records, and release of the information could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.”

The request was then “administratively closed,” the FBI noted in the letter.

Additional Request Denied

An additional request by The Epoch Times for those documents to be processed on an expedited schedule was also denied by “DOJ standards for expedited processing.”

For expedited processing to be granted, the letter stated a request must meet one of four situations.

Those situations include “circumstances in which the lack of expedited treatment could reasonably be expected to pose an imminent threat to the life or physical safety of an individual.”

Another situation listed states “an urgency to inform the public about an actual or alleged federal government activity, if made by a person primarily engaged in disseminating information.”

The third situation listed mentioned the loss of any substantial “due process of rights.”

Imagine working aboard a research station on the ocean floor, watching sea creatures swim past, then venturing out to explore the ocean’s surface. Or being able to examine the impact of climate change on coral reefs from the windows of your undersea research station.

Such facilities have so far been limited, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and developers of a proposed new “first of its kind” research laboratory hope to expand the opportunities and help humans learn more about the ocean.

Proteus Ocean Group – co-founded by Fabien Cousteau, grandson of the late ocean exploration pioneer Jacques Cousteau – is developing an “underwater space station of the ocean.” The group plans to build the station nearly 60 feet deep off the coast of Curaçao in the Caribbean by 2026.

NOAA and the ocean group announced this month they will partner to identify research opportunities as plans to build the station move forward, sharing information and scientific expertise.

The research facility would give scientists and the public a rare window on life under the ocean, the partners said. Much like the International Space Station and earlier versions of marine laboratories, aquanauts will live aboard the station as they conduct research and exploration beneath the sea.

“On PROTEUS we will have unbridled access to the ocean 24/7, making possible long-term studies with continuous human observation and experimentation,” Cousteau stated in a news release. “With NOAA’s collaboration, the discoveries we can make — in relation to climate refugia, super corals, life-saving drugs, micro environmental data tied to climate events and many others — will be truly groundbreaking.”

What’s the plan for the Proteus underwater research station?

Plans have been in the works for several years, but the pandemic and other world events have been a challenge, Marrocchino said. The team includes a group of scientists, oceanographers and entrepreneurs.

“We have a general concept, now we really get into the nitty gritty front end design,” which should last about nine months, she said.

Proteus shared video of Cousteau and others diving over the site where they plan to erect Proteus off Curaçao, an island country in the southern Caribbean, 40-50 miles north of Venezuela, that is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Marrocchino said one of the largest submersible fleets in the ocean docks on the island.

Here’s what they know so far:

The station will include an observatory and laboratory.

Aquanauts will live aboard and work under the ocean.

Eight people could live in the station, with potentially up to 12.

It would allow private citizens to live underwater for periods of time.

It will include a video production facility that could live-stream.

Additional modules could be added later

The company plans to eventually develop two or three other networked stations

Have there been other underwater research laboratories?

Yes. The first were a series of three built in the 1960s under the direction of Cousteau’s grandfather. The Continental Shelf program ran for several years and allowed aquanauts to live under the water off France and in the Red Sea.

In 1975, the U.S. Germany, Poland and the Soviet Union collaborated on a three-month mission for a portable laboratory dubbed Helgoland, launched off the northeastern coast on Stellwagen Bank. Four-person dive teams spent week-long rotations. The mission experienced a number of challenges including a hurricane and unexpected movement of the station in strong currents. A German diver died as the result of an accident during a decompression stop.

Aquarius:

NOAA's Aquarius is 46 feet by 10 feet and includes a kitchen facility and work areas and supports six crew members.

It was initially deployed in St. Croix’s Salt River Canyon in 1988, then moved to the Keys in 1993.

The 85-ton habitat sits on a 120-ton base plate on the seafloor.

It has housed more than 471 crew members.

Its annual operating costs are about $1.1 million.

The average mission length is 7-10 days.

Hydrolab:

Hydrolab was NOAA’s first undersea research habitat.

Aquanauts could live on the ocean floor for days or weeks at a time.

It housed more than 700 scientists on more than 85 missions.

It operated between 1970 and 1985 and is now on display at NOAA’s Science Center in Silver Spring, Maryland

In a space just 8 by 16 feet, the Hydrolab housed three bunks, a laboratory and a moon pool to get out onto the ocean floor.

Leaving the lab required 16 hours in a hyperbaric chamber.

Hydrolab operated in the Bahamas, St. Croix and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

There are often times when you gaze up at the Moon, wishing you could just take a closer look at its mysterious lunar surface.

Now thoses dreams are finally a reality, as a mesmerising interactive picture of 'The Gigamoon' has been stitched together from 280,000 separate photos.

Photographer Andrew McCarthy pulled together the pin-sharp shot of the Moon, illuminating well-known landmarks such as the Apollo landing sites.

The epic result was achieved after dozens of unsuccessful attempts, with users now able to get up close with recognisable craters such as Copernicus, Tycho, Plato, Eratosthenes and Clavius.

'The quality is fairly consistent across the surface which is really hard to do with these major projects, so it's quite serendipitous that the sky cooperated with me to create this image,' Mr McCarthy said.

'You can zoom into any crater on this part of the moon larger than a half mile wide.

'I have been planning this for years. I have attempted it dozens of times. Sadly, usually good conditions don't hold long enough to get consistent detail across the surface, so my hard drives are filled with unfinished gigamoon projects.'

Copernicus is one of the most prominent craters on the nearside of the Moon, formed around 800 million years ago.

Debris from this site was sampled by Apollo 12 astronauts during their mission almost 54 years ago.

Both the Tycho and Clavius craters are illuminated in the shot too, located in the rugged southern highlands of the lunar surface.

Mr McCarthy even managed to capture a rare snap of Plato - a crater rarely seen from Earth due to its position in the far north.

He continued: 'This was shot entirely from my backyard, I waited until the best conditions came to me.

'The two telescopes used for this project include a 12" Newtonian telescope and an 11" SCT, which were both integral to creating the final image.'

Mr McCarthy spent around two hours switching between the telescopes to capture photos of the moon from his backyard in Arizona.

He then pulled the images into one 1.3 gigapixel final result, which he named the 'The Gigamoon', offering the clearest view of the Moon he has ever seen.

He continued: 'The moon was in the Waxing Gibbous phase at the time, which I find ideal as it means the moon is high in the sky at dusk and in an optimal shooting position so there's no need to deprive yourself of sleep to get a good shot.

'There's also a really nice relief to the image, caused by shadows elongated near the lunar terminator, which illustrate the diverse types of terrain on the moon.'

The photograph has emerged just days after a rare lunar eclipse, which peaked at 6.22pm BST on May 6.

This cast Earth's outer shadow - known as its penumbra - on the Moon, causing a subtle lighting change.

'I'm absolutely thrilled with the final image,' Mr McCarthy added. 'Zooming into this thing is surreal.'

Title 42 will expire on May 11th. The border policy was first put into place by the Trump administration during the plannedemic. The policy allowed illegals to be quickly expelled from the country without the option to apply for asylum. With title 42 ending in a few days a huge surge of migrants are taking up positions to surge across the US border and crash into the country. They represent a destructive tsunami of chaos.

While the United States borders buckle and bend under a flood of immigrants from all over the world, Joe Biden’s criminal government announced another $1.2 billion to help fund the Ukraine war effort.

The US will not spare money to finish the border wall here at home but it will send billions of dollars to a corrupt Zelensky to protect the borders of Ukraine.

It is essential that President Trump is re-elected to a second term so he can finish building the wall and deport all the illegals and criminals that rushed into our country during the Biden Regime. The Biden administration has brought back a Trump-era immigration rule the day before Title 42 is scheduled to sunset and encourage a wave of illegal immigration into the U.S.

The rule, finalized and published in the Federal Register on Wednesday, disqualifies migrants from applying for asylum in the U.S. if they neglected to first apply for asylum in other countries they traveled through, such as Mexico. Hundreds of asylum officers were trained in how to enforce the rule on Tuesday ahead of Title 42’s expiration, according to CBS News.

The new rule, a reversal of President Joe Biden’s campaign promises, comes as the administration has failed for more than two years to control historic levels of illegal immigration into the U.S. The ongoing crisis at the southern border is widely expected to worsen later this week when Title 42, a health order authorizing border officials to immediately expel migrants without processing, is repealed at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

SpaceX To Launch Vast's Commercial Space Station and First Human Spaceflight Mission

Vast announced today that SpaceX will launch what is expected to be the world’s first commercial space station, known as Vast Haven-1, quickly followed by two human spaceflight missions to said space station. Scheduled to launch on a Falcon 9 rocket to low-Earth orbit no earlier than August 2025. Haven-1 will be a fully-functional independent space station and eventually be connected as a module to a larger Vast space station currently in development.

Upon launch of Haven-1, Falcon 9 will launch Vast’s first human spaceflight mission to the commercial space station, Vast-1. Dragon and its four-person crew will dock with Haven-1 for up to 30 days while orbiting Earth. Vast also secured an option for an additional human spaceflight mission to the station aboard a Dragon spacecraft.

The Vast-1 crew selection process is underway and the crew will be announced at a future date. Once finalized, SpaceX will provide crew training on Falcon 9 and the Dragon spacecraft, emergency preparedness, spacesuit and spacecraft ingress and egress exercises, as well as partial and full mission simulations including docking and undocking for return to Earth.

Vast’s long-term goal is to develop a 100-meter-long multi-module spinning artificial gravity space station launched by SpaceX’s Starship transportation system. In support of this, Vast will explore conducting the world’s first spinning artificial gravity experiment on a commercial space station with Haven-1.

This new partnership between Vast and SpaceX will continue to create and accelerate greater accessibility to space and more opportunities for exploration on the road to making humanity multiplanetary.
