i am developing a new version for DHX style ponies
it will be used for animation
are there other artists that tried to make something like this before? a DHX style but with their own touch?

I tried once to make my own puppets and they turned out like monsters

They are not, but i can see why you think that way.
i have recreated puppets before, and even one for comission
you mean that they where a nightmare to work with?

They're nightmares under the hood. Very stiff and cant deform at all. Which, yes, does make working with them hard because I have to draw new frames for every limb that goes even slightly outside the limited frame of motion built in.
