Hello fellow pro/pone/ants. Not sure how many people remember the Newfag Roundup thread from 2-3 years ago, but I'm the audiofag that originally volunteered to mix the vocal submissions for it. I figured since we have loads of people with mics in the /pone/cast now including a few that promised to pitch in. don't duck out on me you niggers and with the premiere date for season 8 confirmed, I thought it would be a good time to try a second attempt at this.

Submission rules
Make sure to sing the EDITED VERSION. I only included the original for those that are curious.
Sing the ENTIRE thing. I'll worry about who goes where and how to cut the audio up and arrange it. I'll post my progress as I work of course so you can shittalk give feedback.
Where to submit
Post link to your vocaroo if using vocaroo and for everything else mixtape.moe is easy to use but has a 100mb limit. As for the file format I prefer WAV but if MP3 is easier go for it.
I'll give this about a month from now as the deadline for submissions since we have 6 weeks until the premiere. Don't be shy, this is for shits and giggles after all and we're all faggots here with terrible voices. Who knows if this goes well we can do /pone/ singalongs for the other songs too. Also feel free to include some verbal shitposting and I'll sprinkle them in there for fun where appropriate.

The soonest I can record myself without anyone listening in on me is Wednesday but, knowing myself, I'll probably put it off until Friday so expect to have my recording sometime during the weekend. I also wanted to ask what we should do on parts where the lyrics continue while a note is being sustained, like at 2:49 in vid embed related. I would say finish with the sustained note first, continue with the rest of the lyrics and then splice them together during production.

I was debating posting an update since it seems like the project is dead again but whatever.
Used Ableton Live to fix the timing issues for this since it has excellent re-stretching capabilities with its Warp function. Moving around in it is fucking awful though compared to FL Studio, but it was the only thing that let me compare the submission to the original lyrics whilst stretching the audio.
Was really impressed with how far I could edit things without getting the usual artifacts from over stretching, although there are still a couple of moments that sound slightly off, but should be inaudible in a chorus. Did not re-pitch or process the vocals that will be done later assuming I get more submissions to continue working.
Overall took me 5-7 hours since this was my first time doing this kind of thing, but I should be able to get any new ones done quicker now that I've gotten a decent handle on the workflow.
Unfortunately the vocals are left incomplete since there are two sections that wasn't sung properly and there was nothing I could do so if you could redo them for me that would be great.
Starting from - "We're gonna fap to spoiler'd porn" line 95 to "At last there's something ne~w!" line 105

Another thing is that "h'yaytus" was also sung incorrectly. I'm not the author of the lyrics but I'm 99% sure it's supposed to be two syllables "hyay" then "tus". I'm not going to need you to redo those though, since I replaced them with "newfag round-up" since I always thought it was weird that came up more often than the actual title line in the lyrics.
Lastly due to the issues above I'm editing the lyrics and replacing all the "h'yay-tus roundup" with "newfag roundup" so it's less confusing if that's alright with you guys. Also I noticed you were getting pretty out of breath and tired towards the end. It's ok to take your time and do them in chunks guys I can always just stitch them together through editing

Over the years the question of "how do we get new users to /pone/" has been asked many times and most people default to "let's advertise". Which is fucking useless. What is the point in advertising if there is no content to keep them here? Every time we get new users they just leave since this place is slow as shit and devoid of interesting content. Which happens once in a blue moon nowadays. It used to be weekly, but I suppose in the hiatus between seasons that's understandable.
It gets even worse. Everytime we start up a project to promote /pone/ it fucking dies.

It'd be pointless you'd have to dump literal thousands to force a meme by paying for oc. Honestly I'm wondering if it's already too late. Even if we had the content there's so few active users now I don't know if the new users would stick around due to the slow speed. When we had 280-300 users we had the potential but we squandered so many opportunities.
Honestly I figured I'd get at least a couple of submissions because it'd be fun, but I guess I underestimated the level of apathy on this board. I just wanted to complete this, have it show up in the cytube stream right before the premier, and have fun shitposting in the chat. I just need like 5-6 submissions total.

Well, after weeks of procrastination and nagging by other anons for me to actually do it, I have finally recorded myself for this shit. Although, I don't really like how I sound due to hangover and dry throat so I might just record myself again, probably with a higher bit rate. But anyway, here's my submission with the latest updated lyrics which I'm glad for because some syllables in the previous version don't match and are just fucking retarded in WAV format. I even recorded some backing lines and vocals at the end because autism so feel free to use them where necessary.

Found a better example of how the project could look like. In this example theres plenty of people going off key but it doesn't matter because theres tons of people singing at the same time and it sounds close enough.

At first I put it off because I lost motivation with the project due to the abysmal low energy from the board not counting those who participated. Then I upgraded my computer and when I decided to continue 2 months later I ran into issues with my illicitly obtained copy of Ableton since my hardware changed and it no longer was able to recognize the license file. After that I got robbed by niggers and had to deal with some court cases where they needed my witness testimony after they were caught. It was mostly the procrastination though.

Shit anon. I already had a mix with that. Only I did it in Audacity because I don't want to pirate Ableton. And it's also shit. I didn't use any timestretching beyond the tracks you already processed (because I didn't want to guess/"change tempo" on every single syllable), but I think that the artifacts would become noticeable if you had to process every voice track. Plus not using timestretching helps preserve the original autism.

Not really it has one of the best tools and workflows for editing audio, especially time stretching and pitch shifting since it originally was a DJing tool. Also has one of the most comprehensive and solid native plugins. The only shitty thing imo is the awful pricing, shitty piano roll, and the milquetoast updates in between version changes, unlike Fl Studio my main daw.

Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere fits both of those categories. Vegas is pretty shit, but might be easier to learn as you go. Make sure you learn good audio processing and mixing.
