checking out what boards could be interesting now that 8kun has had some time to rebuild. not much of a high IQ myself.

>>26

Salutations fellow polymaths, I see your board is struggling to gain traction. If you would like to be part of an active community with an emphasis on a variety of quality intellectual discourse, come visit our halls at xchan: https://xchan.wtf/

BO, you are certainly welcome to come start a polymath thread in /db8/ if you'd like: https://xchan.wtf/db8/index.html,

please take advantage of this opportunity, thank you.

All of you have powers far beyond most people.

That you understand so much, you can comprehend so much more.

Don't ever change.

Your world becomes more conquerable the more you understand about it.

Heaven forbid we ever meet each other, a team of polys is something to be feared.

should a modern polymath learn programming?

btw this board needs a book/pdf thread.

New poster currently learning computer networking and security, so I guess my position is obvious. But I believe CS skills are valuable not simply on a practical level but it also gives you a better understanding of the systems that allow for our contemporary life and lets us have a space to create programs and systems that could potentially help us throughout our lives learning other subjects. Haven't read the wizard book though so I can't recc. Looks interesting whenever I see it posted though.

very interesting thought that these boards will eventually come to bear discursal fruit as more people discover this area of 'chan culture', and perhaps its memetic combinatorial position in the expansion of culture will pick up, as you state. I'll certainly be monitoring this board.

Semi-kinda-related, I'm trying to start a community for maths over at /maths/ if anyone wants to join. It could just be asking for help in maths homework that gets things started.

The difference between computer science and actual programming must be stressed. Making a GUI is really a matter of learning library methods and the experience, creativity and ingenuity necessary to organize your application in an efficient way that is manageable but also fits into the UI library. Computer science is more of studying algorithms themselves and isn't specific to a single language.
