This was a major problem.
Rule 6 laid out a set of /pol/ beliefs, to define the board as being separate from leftypol, or any of the other specific political boards. /pol/ is right-wing. Specifically, it had been a place for national socialists, white nationalists (specifically), cultural traditionalists, and people who are against civic nationalism and the spread of judaism (in all forms) to converse without being banned, censored, et. al. More than that, /pol/ based its beliefs on objective reality, and the numerical truths that come from that reality. The imageboard format facilitated that, as without a username or “account”, the only thing that mattered is what was said in the post. Shit (meaning lies) filters to the bottom, while truth, theoretically, rises to the top. Truth above narrative.
BUT WITHOUT PROTECTION OF THE TRUTH, IT GETS DROWNED IN LIES.
We see this literally everywhere else on the Internet. Twitter and Facebook are bad examples in practice, but they are good examples of showing how automated bot posting can sway polls, fudge statistics, and control a narrative. /pol/acks have cataloged thousands of burner accounts there posting copied and pasted jewish narratives after this or that world event, with pre-determined hashtags to “resist” such things as ethnonationalism, trade agreements, gun ownership, or what have you.
Reddit in its early days is a better example. Back when it had some semblance of free speech, users would post what they wanted, and it was either true or false, cited and sourced or not. But then sockpuppet accounts started being created. Things that were true (but which went against their narrative) got “downvoted.” Thanks to Reddit’s system, users who got enough downvotes were physically prevented from posting, even though what they said was true. And now, of course, those socks have created a narrative such that the site owners themselves now ban anything that goes against it, even if it’s true. Narrative above truth.
Without “Rule 6”, or a variant thereof, /pol/ (or its successors) is nothing. /pol/ doesn’t stand for anything. There is no ideology whatsoever, other than “the majority.” /pol/ becomes, literally, dictated by what “the majority” says it is, and “the majority”–as we have seen happen many times on 4chan (and here in the past)–is literally just whoever paid for a VPN and a hundred sockpuppets. /pol/ ceases to be a board entirely and became "/b/ for politics.”
TLDR: Go back and read it. But anyway. If, by virtue of there being no rules to define what /pol/ is, redditors get to spam their content (because that’s what they’re doing, by definition. Hundreds of images and posts with content copied straight from the_donald on reddit that are just jewish narratives calling for civic nationalism, white genocide, jewish supremacy, etc. None of that is /pol/) and the board is completely destroyed. White nationalism is censored through flooding.
