I'm writing a short novel about a man who doesn't have a job, collects welfare benefits, has a fear of intimacy, is terrified of women, and struggles to overcompensate for his life failure by pretending he some kind of all-knowing online detective…
Every good story needs a plot twist, so I'm developing this character as a complete life failure, who can't get anything right, and keeps trying to dig up dirt online, and comes up empty every time…
I'm conceiving this character as somebody who tries doxing people with old addresses they haven't lived at for years, and other similarly failed attempts at showing some kind of "ability", when the readers will all realize he has absolutely no abilities whatsoever…
I was wondering if I could get a few pointers from you to help me make my character more realistic…
