Unconstitutional RESTRICT Act Would Give US Government Power To Outlaw Undesirable News And Social Media
If you thought governmental outsourcing of surveillance and censorship on social media was bad enough when revealed after the Twitter leaks, now even more absurd and abusive draconian measures are being proposed by a control freak government and crooked politicians. The RESTRICT Act seeks to re-define the 1st and 4th Amendments when it comes to anything "National Security" (or related). Under this new legislative proposal, the government could deem anything (news, comments, dissent, speech and even critical thought in it's entirely) "foreign propaganda", making it a criminal offense to publish and seeking legal political retribution and criminal charges against any American who publishes or speaks out in any undesirable way which is claimed to impact "National Security" - and by doing so - effectively OUTLAWING both the protections of the 1st and 4th Amendments of the United States Constitution for American citizens.
This bill is as evil and draconian as it gets, just as bad - if not even more tyrannical - than Chinese internet censorship policies. This would effectively set up a weaponized Great Firewall over America's domestic online communications, even seeking to outlaw the use of foreign encryption schemes! Imagine the social consequences if the US government started banning VPN and Tor use! This would surely drive many people away from socializing online due to new legal and financial risks.
Anyone who wishes the internet - and our freedom of speech - to exist as it has should be alarmed and pressuring politicians to abandon such totalitarian legislation! This is NOT a "Democrat" or "Republican" issue, this is a Constitutional issue: the right to have an opposing opinion without being charged as a criminal. If the RESTRICT Act passes, you can kiss nearly ALL Constitutional rights goodbye, including a massive swath of existing information online too.
Even the ACLU is challenging this now.

If this ever were to pass I won't even touch sites like these even with VPN turned on while using Tor. Social media will be a thing of the past for me, end of story, internet = dead.
Might as well backup all the desired media you can from the internet while it lasts and have multiple offline backups.

If it passes, so be it. We'll cope until the Supreme Court strikes it down. However, your snowflake feely feels don't get to decide when something is unconstitutional. It isn't so just because you say it is so. We have a system of governance. If you don't like how we do things, then you're welcome to leave any fuckin' time.

IF this passes, which is clearly unconstitutional if you look into how this would be enforced and how everything would be regulated, including speech and media, the ONLY places I will be leaving is social media and honeypots like this site. You can bet I'll just keep bleaching all my .sqlite browser history cache to rid my computer of leftover traces. After all, why bother risking my personal safety attracting the most corrupted cesspit third world tyrannical scumbags by painting a target on my back?

Unconstitutional things have passed in the past and were subsequently overturned. This one, however, will not pass. It's a GOP sponsored thing and, while it might squeak by in the House, the Democratic Senate will kill it on arrival.

Again, if you cannot read, it's clearly not a "conservative" or "liberal" issue. Even FOX news was blasting the sponsor of this legilsation, which is a corrupt RINO Lindsey Graham (whom most real conservatives do not like at all). And some Democrats also support it, like the Biden White House openly did. So it's a uniparty corruption issue, I don't care who strikes it down, the fact is it should be, it's completely Un-American in every sense. Not to hard to figure out if you read the carte-blanch power it gives the government to ARREST PEOPLE FOR SPEECH WITH NO WARRANT. I'd like to know if CNN or MSLSD is bashing this too, they should be, every American should be.

The most ironic thing is this bill doesn't even mention Tik Tok, not even once. It gives full authority to the government to control and even criminalize ANY online content they please to, under the guise of "muh nation security!", there is no limit to how this can be abused, and they even state the government has the right to police what computers you use, what software you use, what information is available, encryption schemes, carte-blanch control. Even VPN and Tor use is not immune from government overreach and criminalization. This is by far the worst legislation in American history, even more draconian then the "Patriot Act". Lindsey Graham was not smacked hard enough in my opinion, he should have been called an outright communist for sponsoring this tyranny, but then again we all know he didn't write it himself, he's just another corrupt puppet. Anyone who votes for this bill should be voted out of office come 2014, including RINOs.
