Sources close to Skye reported troubles in the final period of her private life. The Toronto Sun reported that in 2020, two of Skye's grandparents died of COVID-19, she became estranged from her husband, and found herself homeless. She came under fire in May 2021 for a photo she posted to Instagram showing her flashing her breasts to the camera while standing in front of a George Floyd mural; Skye's aunt reported that the actress had been bullied by other pornographic actresses therefor. In her final days, Skye was still fighting her years-long addictions to fentanyl and alcohol.
Skye died in Los Angeles on June 9, 2021. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmedshe died in the recreational vehicle in which she lived, and listed her as 27 years old and homeless. Skye's husband identified the body. An autopsy was conducted on June 10, but the release of cause and manner of death were awaiting "further investigation".
