8chan went offline for 4 fucking months and it hasn't been too long since it has come back online in a reliable, functional way, and they are still fixing parts of the site. Combine that with all the confusion not only because it has rebranded to 8kun but also because there were at least 3 different domains that it went through until they found one that wasn't deplatformed. Some people are probably still wondering why .net doesn't work. Then there's been a great deal of misinformation spread by the cripple, his fellow /intl/ fags and owners of other imageboards that want to get the users of 8chan for their own sites. They're were both badmouthing Jim and everyone involved in 8chan as well as making it harder for it return, like nanotech ddosing the captcha.
In the end it all has made the site more resilient and more and more people will come, slowly but surely. And you know well that there are some people you don't even want to return. So enjoy 8chan/8kun being a comfy, small and slow site as long as you can, it really is the calm before the storm.

Reason #1 is that it takes a few minutes to actually find this place. If you look up 8chan you just get hundreds of articles on how that den of alt-right terrorists got taken down. I'll admit it actually took me a little while to find out what the address extension of this site was. Even on 8ch most people are pretty tech illiterate so the move really took its toll just because it added a new barrier to entry in that you can't just google the site.
Reason 2 is a lot of people don't even know it's back. If you're not actively looking for it, you'd have no idea.
