I want to inform you about BitChute
If you havent heard of it, BitChute is a Youtube competitor that is free speech friendly. They dont have advertisements, they dont ban political wrongthink, and the dont play favorites with their algorithms. It is entirely donation funded, and despite that, their video play is actually pretty damn good. A lot of controversial people are migrating to bitchute, and a lot of regular youtubers are making backup accounts in preparation for when Google's censorship becomes even more extreme. I do not want to give the impression that they are infallible or uncorruptable. It's entirely possible they will get bought out tomorrow and turn into corporate cucks, but so far they have done so good. If you want a place to watch quality videos without a bunch of gay trackers and ads, try it out at bitchute.com

You know, I did not actually check that before since I am mostly interested in finding OC. On their ToS it just says that they respect copyright law and that if you want to take something down you have to prove that you own the copyrighted work and provide a link to the offending video.
Elsewhere it says that this is all framed in the context of English law.

I don't know if England is more or less cucked than the US about fair use, but if I had to guess I'd say it's more cucked. So there's a strike against it

I don't even know where the term 'AltTech' comes from. It's only just appeared in the current interesting context. Looking through Twitters hastag history it first appeared almost 10 years ago in a context that… seems more inline with what a typical person would think… solar power and more specifically for the poor (how outrageously neo-nazi). There is quite a gap until it reappears in late 2017 as essentially technology that is nefarious, dark and essentially only appealing to Nazis. Perusing through Googles search history going way back nothing like the new connotation is found… that HW has insinuated exists. This is yet again another battle in the grounds of language – I can't stress this enough. BitChute is just another website that hasn't yet caved to deleting videos that are edgy, contrarian, counter mainstream et. al.
Is BitChute good? I think this is the question to ask whether it's decentralised or not. I haven't lost any sleep over the fact it may or may not be as advertised. It depends what your use is for. If you like watching mindless shit on YouTube that's promoted there constantly than BitChute might not be for you. Also, who gives a fuck? It seems only cripples do.

Apparently youtube responded to some people saying it wasn't the creators who would be terminated for being unprofitable, but the services themselves. What they meant is that they might get rid of comments, voting, or experimental features if they turn out not to make money. But boy howdy isnt it convenient that that legal ambiguity also allows them to ban people for no reason whatsoever

>I don't even know where the term 'AltTech' comes from.
Google, Facebook, Twitter, Oracle, Apple and a few others were rapidly taking over large segments of the market that initially consisted of countless small players in the past 10 years. Before, you wouldn't even think of something like alt tech in that context, and if you would, those same monstrous companies would have been the alternative tech at that point. Now they are not new anymore and people finally start seing them for what they really are. 10 years ago you might have been using their services, amazed by the usability and google's endless email storage you get for free. Now you realize that everyone else did too which lead to a few players controlling everything.

Absolute meme pic.
Despite the complete 180 in attitude and the insufferable opportunism of hotwheels' disturbing crusade against the Watkins family and everything they touch, in the case of BitChute and many of their contemporaries, he is entirely correct. For all intents and purposes, BitChute operates exactly as YouTube does, and 'free speech site' is not only a dishonest misnomer, but it's an oxymoron at that. Even with the best-intentioned moderation, which BitChute themselves seem to be struggling to afford, the HTTP / DNS / CDN apparatus will fail to deliver through the breakage of any link in the chain - something that Brennan has been demonstrating to us systematically over the last few months. Even with their current level of activity relative to their main competitors (YouTube, Twitter etc.), these sites have shown us a stark reality of how governments and other groups can be relied upon to pressure them to remove content that goes against the interest of TPTB - evidenced by BitChute's UK-sanctioned takedowns of all National Action content and Gab's removal of Patrick Little, in much the same manner as the many services they have formerly relied on did to them. You were warned as much back in 2018.
https://archive.ph/lxcwu#selection-13123.131-13123.311
If you hope for any solution - a permanent one - then we cannot fight half the battle. Content distribution can be, and already is, widely distributed, through tech like BitTorrent and other DHT-based methods of sharing. What is more scarcely seen, and more desperately needed, is the distribution of indexes of that content and its corresponding metadata. If you can visit an 'alt-tech' 'website' without any dedicated client and without any prior modifications to your web browser, it can probably be taken down by a sternly-worded letter to the domain registrar, from the right person. The solutions are user indexing, federation, and content addressed storage - protocols like IPFS, ActivityPub and Matrix, and in the future, Named Data Networking. If you don't want these cycles of persecution to continue, then stop compromising on the ways we retain our ability to communicate and publish freely and without fear of reprisal. This also means not switching your reliance from the American internationalist billionaires of Google to the Russian internationalist billionaires of Yandex. 'But their algorithms aren't as heavily manipulated' is no excuse - you know that they both operate within exactly the same paradigm of business, as does ProtonMail, VK and any other prominent holder of metadata in that image. Privacy may be hard to come by, but we need not make it a joke.
tl;dr take a look at the technology mentioned in these posts >>172 >>173 >>4662 - assess them for yourself and judge accordingly. Really, you should be making use of any service that serves the end you want to extract from it right now (and in the interests of attracting attention for memetic campaigns and such, ironically, the larger Silicon Valley ones are often better for that), but for archival and other long-term purposes, handing away trust to centralised parties as we have been doing for the last several decades, can do nought but induce the repeating of problems that we have been having for the last several decades.
Or to really summarise it, BitChute will adapt, or they will fail, just as others before them.

He isn't correct about bitchute, his article on it over at the dailydot is filled with lies.
He implied that the magnet links under each video were typical torrent links there as part of a fraudulent attempt to market the site as being p2p and weren't functional. They work fine with a web torrent client not a normal torrent client. Back when Bitchute first came out I remember pasting a magnet link into a typical torrent client and wondering why it didn't work, it took less than a minute to figure out what was wrong and how to use the magnet link properly. The notion that someone as tech literate as him writing an article on this very topic with direct access to the guy who runs Bitchute through Twitter couldn't figure it out and made a mistake is absurd.
Dozens of people brought this issue up to him on twitter and he just ignores them, it's clear that he doesn't care what the facts are.

These aren't "free speech" ones. Gab.ai is only situationally in favour of free speech and has had shit about hate speech and loli that show they are just waiting to get big enough to finally get the excuse to clamp down. Yandex does engage in censorship, it's just that it is less severe and gets less attention due to not being as huge as Google. You can talk of how they don't fuck with search results as blatantly all you want but it still censors shit. The main advantage relating to privacy with startpage is the fact that you have the option to use it to view sites through it. What this means is that, even if startpage tracks you, you at the very least have the option that the site you are viewing through it doesn't. While for something like duckduckgo you get tracked by both ddg and the site you are trying to get to.

Loli has quickly become the yardstick by which censorship can be measured over the last decade. It's a good litmus test for search engines as well. I'm of the opinion that the reason Bitchute isn't going to be able to overtake Youtube is just how cripplingly bad their video search is. You can't even sort by date, let alone catagories like animation or gaming which normalfags will want to see. The site IS the biggest non-specialized video site and has an established userbase of political reviewers and boomers so it has more of a chance than other wannabes like Vidlii, but it needs to get its shit together (and maybe offer shit Youtube doesn't anymore like Annotations or Video Replies) if it doesn't wanna die like Vid.me did albeit slower.

That's not really an alternative. That's just a proxy for Jewtube like Hooktube used to be.

From what I've heard, bitchute is trying to hire an actual web developer to fix this issue. Atleast, thats what they are saying the crowd funding goal is going to achieve anyways. Guess we will see. Bitchute missed their target on completely destroying youtube during the hype of the right wing censorship movement because of their broken search engine but it's not too late for them to make a play.

No way.
Jews are losing control.
They can't shut it all down at once.
Look at 8kun.
Not all the liberal billionaires and butthurt jews could stop it.
Now they're going after small websites to satisfy their urge to shut it down meanwhile we grow stronger than ever.

There's a new twitter-esque site called slug:
https://slug.com
I heard good things about it, can't tell by myself because I'm not into social media.

Bitchier doenst have this video on it yet.
.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EWlJ2L2zFMg. But it should. The search needs work, but it sucks less than wojhiki's censorious bullshit. They don't seem to bow to fags which it good. I left some African necrophilia images in the comments a few times and they stayed up idk how long but a while. It's a good opportunity to work on the fox news crowd about the JQ so that is a plus. And styxhexen hammer has daily exclusives on bitchute . I got banned for suggesting that a man could rich abducting illegal aliens at the border for the sex trade lol. I had some good aborted foetus gifs too, in my experience the Twitchy-er the better. Lots of virgin normie eyes wtf?
