do you ever drive on possibly wet/icy roads in the winter? if so you need winter tires otherwise at 35 degrees or so those summer tires can slide.
if you have no wet/icy/snowy roads and no mountains or hills to slide on. you can rock summer tires all winter. it just depends on the tire/your geographic areas winter climate/where you will take your car.

If the temperature goes below 7 degrees Celsius then performance of tires that aren't winter tires starts sucking ass. The rubber in all seasons isn't flexible enough at lower temps to be nearly as good as proper winter tires.

Just watched it. He tested the tires in temps fit for summer tires. Once it hits icy roads and decent minuses (fuck you farhenheit users) summer tires will drive you right in first ditch.

Yeah, most of the time actually. I rarely drive on thick layers of snow since they're being salted immediately anyway. It's mostly slush, ice, wet shit roads and temperatures between -10 and +10°C I have to deal with during winter.

id recommend winter tires then. Non winter tires will have harder rubber due to your temps, this means even with no hills or steep roads, if you have to suddenly slam your brakes, you are prone to sliding.

Probably don't live in a place with real weather, you need any grip you can get with winter.
But if it's just pure ice you won't find traction with a tank, sometimes it's a zero friction situation where you just hope for the best.

I never had to use them. Just drive in the lowest gear and use engine braking as much as possible to slow yourself down. If you need to stop, pump the brakes in a slow rhythmic motion.

Even with no snow, low temperatures will fuck up summer tires due to the materials they're made of. Same reason you don't use winter tires in summer.
Sure tread depth is different but component materials matter quite a lot.

Dirt tires are expensive and terrible on asphalt. My routine is 50/50 dirt/asphalt roads, so winter tires are pretty good all-rounders.
Yes, they are way less "unslidy" on warm asphalt than summer tyres, but that is rare anyway.

Except that summer temperatures are too hot for the winter tire's rubber compound, and that dirt roads are a lot more abrasive than snow, dirt is even abrasive on dirt tires.
You'd be better served by a mild all terrain tire, some are even rated for winter service.
