I'm considering doing it temporarily. My seats fold down like pic related.

I haven't lived out of a car, but for a period of about 4 weeks, I have lived out of a tent with just a little more square footage than a mini van with all the rear seats removed/folded flat. It was pretty different in that I had room to stand up straight, but similar in the amount of stuff I had room for. I didn't have any food in there but there was definitely room for a tote, a cooler and a Coleman stove to be stored.
I've also seen people live out of much smaller spaces, for example embed related. It's also pretty common to convert the bed of a pickup into a similar space. I'd say it's definitely doable, you just have to know where to park and have few possessions. There appear to be loads of Youtube videos on the subject.
That said, I definitely wouldn't do it long-term, or at all if I didn't have to. I imagine access to things like electricity and running water would be rare unless you a) had some friends who were willing to let you use their showers and such or b) stayed at camp grounds a lot, which could get expensive and wouldn't be very convenient for living close to populated areas. I wouldn't recommend it unless you were being evicted or were stuck in an abusive family or something similar.

I lived out of my ae86 with my fiancé for a month. Gas isn't bad even with the extra weight hurting your mpg. Biggest things to watch out for are finding food you don't need to microwave that is cheap, finding bathrooms, and finding places to shower. There are plenty of resources for /vanlife/ to remedy these problems, but it was all too much for me. I just got an apartment last week because it was a temporary situation while we were homeless, and I can't imagine going back to that life. Definitely buy a laundry bag to keep your clean/dirty seperate, and consider investing in one of those foam mattress toppers. Watch out for cops, some Wal-Mart parking lots are ok to sleep in, but you gotta watch yourself. Also if you're looking for jobs there isn't anywhere to hang dress shirts or suits, and when you pull up in a fucking sleeping car they will not hire you. Will watch thread and answer any questions if they arise.

If you have a job while doing this. Use the library for internet if your phone cant do that. Get a gym membership to a 24 hour gym so you can work shit and shower ( and also get a work-out) Sleep in the rear seats or the foldouts if you can do that.It's too cold here to do that though.

I had to once. I took my friend's Jeep Wrangler for an 800 miles safari. He was out of the country and I asked to borrow it before he left. As big as it was, it wasn't spacious enough for 6 guys to sleep in, but we managed. Can't fathom how my back would hurt if i had to live in my car.

The only Tesla feature that truly fascinates me is that you can turn the seats into proper beds and put the car in camping mode where the car only runs its air con and shit. Now if they find a way to build a toilet in there, I might seriously consider moving out of my apartment and change cars.

I would sleep in my jeep during finals week, but it's easy mode when you go to uni. parking garages are patrolled by mall cops, plenty of food on campus, go the the uni gym for showers. some buildings would be open 24/7 so always had a bathroom etc.

This summer I'll have a little saved up and I plan on dirtbagging my way through Utah/Arizona/Colorado up to Montana. I'll probably stay on public land and basically go motorcamping. Some tips
>reflectix+black fabric window covers
>electric fan
>cooler w/ bubble wrap/extra insulation
>power inverter for laptop/electronics
>shovel in case of getting stuck
I prefer the sleeper/stealth camper look. I like to keep it as low profile as possible to minimize the risk of attention from unwanted faggots. Not really so much of a problem when you're boondocking, but in case of emergency if you're stuck in a city or whatever, it's best not to put out the "I'm a poor homeless weirdo living in a van" vibe

Kind of a shitty situation but once you get into a routine it’s not all that bad, really only after work. Find somewhere to route your mail if you can.
