I've been trying to listen to Classical music but I have this continuous problem where, as I focus on one part of the music, the rest of the music becomes background noise. It stops being in my attention and instead, gets filtered out or blocked out.

Is this the same for all of you? When you guys listen to Classical music, are you really hearing all of it at once? The bass notes? The higher registers? The middle harmonies? I just cannot shake the suspicion that when I listen to music, I'm only really listening to half of it (or potentially less)

Any suggested listening techniques for listening to music? Any recommended reading material, perhaps?
