Not in any particular order. May swap the tobacco album for Wish you were Here or Madcap Laughs but it's a difficult choice.

This is a pretty rough assortment of albums, with more long-time favorites being at the top. I also excluded soundtrack releases and compilations of pre-LP music right from the start.
You can probably tell the main genres I listened to during most of my high school years.

I like Night Time's heavier style but can appreciate BTATS's de-emphasizing of Coleman's vocals on some of the songs.

>A Few Old Tunes
I was strongly considering putting that one on my list, but there are so many gimmick tracks on there I can't really get behind. I actually like the rough style of the early track compilations better than the actual album releases.
>I like Night Time's heavier style but can appreciate BTATS's de-emphasizing of Coleman's vocals on some of the songs.
Yeah, the production and hard-hitting style is what I love about Night Time. It's poppy New Wave but done a lot more aggressively. The combination of pounding drums, chiming guitar tone, mournful Oberheim pads, crooned vocals, and funky basslines make it sound so satisfying. I do find "Tabazan" a big step down from the sound-alike "All Play Rebel" from the bonus tracks, though
Brighter Than a Thousand Suns gets a bad rap from Killing Joke purists for its more smoothed-out, synth-heavy sound, but it really is an enjoyable darkwave record. I even don't mind most of the second-rate tracks on there. It's essential wintertime listening for me.

I agree. It may not play into their strengths like the preceding albums, but "Chessboards", "Wintergardens" and "Exile" are all solid songs. "Exile" is an underrated B-side.
