Instead of listening to the albums, I've listened to two performances of theirs: one was in NYC 2018 and the other is Chicago 2017. It was during this first show that realized it was Lauren holding back the energy and that was before I read your post. Where it became most evident was when one of the guys, Ian, sang 2 of the songs. His voice is shit, he has a round featureless numale head and pudgy, wide hipped soy body, no stage presence what so ever, but his performance still had more energy that Laurens and I found my getting into the tunes despite his lack of ability. He get's whatever it means to "feel" a song and lose himself in it. His performance had emotion and energy to match the music. When Lauren started singing again, she was much better for the next 2 songs, but lost whatever energy she had from Ian's performance and fell back into her usual vocal performance.
