Emerson, Lake & Palmer general.

I just listened to Tarkus for the first time today after holding on to that LP for a couple of years now. The titular suite isn't too bad, but I can empathize with some fans pointing to the B side as its weakest link.

Now re-listening to Brain Salad Surgery and while "Karn Evil 9", or anything on that album, is no match for "Tarkus" (Side A) in my opinion, I feel the album is more well-rounded than Tarkus. It's quieter for one thing, the mixing and overall production is better, whereas in Tarkus I felt Emerson's keys were way too overpowering, or they just sound like that through my Polk T15s.

Fuck yes ELP is the shit. Desecrate all soy faggots who would rather listen to Indie Rock or Death Grips or some fag hipster shit like that. Prog Supremacy!

Tarkus is their masterpiece, I like all the songs on the B-Side too. Brain Salad Surgery is also fantastic. This track is one of my favourite however, love the synth sounds used here

Of course, Emerson is a beast + Tarkus = best ELP album.

Really fond of the Pictures at an Exhibition interpretation and their stuff as The Nice.

+ Tarkus is their most synth heavy album*

 No.92647

ELP is way too soft for my tastes, when I reach for prog I want something more bizarre like Van Der Graff Generator or Magma

Emerson, Lake & Palmer comes off as bad cocktail jazz to me.

might be actually down my alley then, progressive synth music sounds like something I'd be into.

listening to Tarkus rn, yea this is more down my alley, the rare rave-up side of ELP.
