I'll start with Prodigy. The were absolutely huge from 94 to 98. Every mainstream musician was claiming to be into them, especially alt-rock fuckheads were virtue signaling to the youth how they were able to get rave/techno music. "Breakbeat" became a thing, similar acts like Fagboy Slim and Crystal Method jumped on the hype train and so did Hollywood eventually (e.g. Spawn OST, Blade OST, etc.). Then Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit came around and Prodigy were done.

BTW I'm not talking about one hit wonders, I'm referring to acts that did have an impact during a given period but never managed to evolve their carreer into something long lasting.

Does the idea of relevancy only apply to top 40 shit? Most of the music I listen to is obscure and barely anyone cares about it, so I don't know if any of it has ever been relevant in the same sense of the word that you'd use to describe The Prodigy.

No, if there was a legendary Andorran ethnopunk band that set the underground on fire before leaving, then tell us about it.

I can't speak from experience, but I've heard that Babylon Zoo were being touted as the next big thing to revolutionize the music scene or something when Spaceman came out, but then the album came out and it sucked and everybody forgot about them.

Haha yeah, the Brits were bummed out about the Stone Roses kinda checking out after the first album. Babylon Zoo was supposed to take off because he had electronic influences and shit. Instead, Britpop happened which was basically dadrock played by young guys. Also like you said, BZ's album was shit except for one single.

not really a band but the genre of electroclash. I always thought that shit was gay as hell. even now as an industrial fan.

Mastodon had a shit ton of presence and praise in the 2000's with their "progressive sludge", mostly due to crazy instrumentation and great songwriting. Then Crack The Skye in 2009 was overwrought with ideas and mushy in delivery, and after that they just made syrupy hard-rock. There's been a few weak imitators since, but other than that things just went back to the usual black/doom/death/thrash/prog like nothing happened.

OP is a faggot and only faggots care about "relevancy"

You clearly didn't grow up in England, they were huge well into the 2000's and even to this day.

Your post is irrelevant. No one will ever care for your shitty soundcloud bands.

>"hey guys, is this good music?"

>"hurrr what does it matter all music is objectively good hurr durr check out muh soundcloud page btw durrr hurrr"

/mu/ has seen enough of this shitposting.

Radiohead

Thought they were going to take over the world for like 5 years but they fizzeled out and by now they have been largely forgotten
