I've been getting a lot into thrash metal recently, but I just can't get into the more speedy-chaotic stuff like Slayer, Kreator, Sodom and the likes. I like a lot of extreme stuff, but specifically on thrash metal I think the riffs get worse the faster they get.

So does any anon here know bands that actually sound like oldschool Metallica and Megadeth, aggressive but with memorable riffs? aside from Anthrax, that is.

Lamb of God is one of the better big thrash bands. Unfortunately the old school really heavy sound is not common nowadays.

Also, give Slayer's back catalog a try. Everything good of theirs was last century.

I always hated how Candlemass sounds, with that ear-piercing high freqs normies call ("good production for a 80s album")

Testament was borderline hairband, but they had some memorable stuff.
