Been looking around for an alternative to my shite iPod. Something with larger storage and decent sound quality but the prices are all so ridiculous. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

I've always just used my laptop, personally. Some people use their smartphones, since you can get apps that play flac/wav/etc. How opposed are you to having a tyrannical corporate-imposed tracking device?

My phone has really shit battery life, I've tried different batteries, messing with the Battery Saver options and it just doesn't work for me. I have a job where I can listen to music while I work which is why I'm asking in the first place. I'm on my feet moving around as well so a laptop was out of the question.

I recently bought an Intenso Music Walker, for MP3s and WMAs. It can't browse large music libraries, it seems.

I Use an AGPTEK Clip, it can play any file format and use an sd card up to 64gb

The Benjie BJ-T6 (or AGPTek Rocker) supports 64GB MicroSD Cards, and lossless audio, and costs like 40 dollars on aliexpress. Supossedly it's only gripe is the dumb UI, but it's supossedly getting a Rockbox port soon-ish

I have an AGPTEK A02S. It's fine, and fairly cheap. Don't buy into the hype of a lot of hi-res players, the prices a lot of companies want for them is extortionate.

 No.88787

If it can't run rockbox you shouldn't use it. Get a xduoo x3

I've added Rockbox to my Sansa, and I agree it's a reasonable OS, as opposed to every other thing I've tried, which have been written and coded by madmen who were probably deaf as well as company shills.

But there's not much out there, hardware wise, that will run it. The sansa clip and I guess the xduo? Somebody needs to port Rockbox to the Pi zero or the Teensy 2, or 3.

Those lithium batteries are WAY too precious to waste on rendering digital music. Lead-acid in the form of AAs, please. Let my phone be a phone*.

*well, and an ssh client, maybe a web browser. But not an eBook reader because again, there's dedicated hardware out there, as well there should be.

Came here to recommend sansa clip, had the same one for 10 years, and still use it.

Failing that chinkshit cheap phone, also linked in this thread.
