What is your opinion on Eurobeat?

Is it just a meme? Does its super hyped upbeat nature outshine the usual terrible lyrics? Will it ever be taken seriously like other genres like Pop or Rock outside of Japan? Do you listen to it?

Gonna post a couple more examples.

I'm not sure why, but i never liked T.Stebbins voice on Eurobeat tracks, it's calm/soft nature just doesn't fit the atmosphere of the tracks he voices over.

It's funny how contrasted Eurobeat produced by male artists is to female ones. At least in the emotion they convey, it's like a different type of upbeat feeling entirely.

Like a type of cheerful happiness and uplifting worryless atmosphere; as opposed to a sense of hurry, anxiousness and adrenaline.

The albums may have shitty cover images, too, but most of the time the music really makes up for it. I would feel sorry for the bastard who had to take the picture of this ugly skank, or who was bribed to put her on the cover of this.

Though one thing is for sure with Eurobeat. The track's intrumentals, despite mostly being sythetized, is really well made. It invokes a sense of energy, power and emotion not found in other types of music.

Something that comes close to it would be Rock and all its variants, specially Metal. Though, it's obvious they don't have much relations other than the liberal use of electric guitars.

I learned about it from Initial D

>Is it just a meme?

Everything is a meme

>Does its super hyped upbeat nature outshine the usual terrible lyrics?

sometimes

>Will it ever be taken seriously like other genres like Pop or Rock outside of Japan?

no, it's dead. it never left japan, the only reason it got any traction in the west is an anime about drifting cars and that's hardly any fame at all.

>Do you listen to it?

yes

 No.85049

eurobeat is mass produced italo disco made for export to japan

 No.85072

All diso music is trash tbqh

 No.85073

Hadn't really listened to Eurobeat outside the Initial D OST.

Does it all really sound this similar? This is pop levels of blandness. I guess the Initial D soundtrack was just a curated list of distinct tracks.

A neat little detail; Fabio Lione (who sings for Angra and previously for Rhapsody of Fire) also produced Eurobeat under name J. Storm.

>>85073

It's mass produced trash, what did you expect.

 No.85084

Honestly Eurobeat would be perfect free party music, like happy hardcore but slightly more interesting. It's a shame there are no rigs that do it.

>Will it ever be taken seriously like other genres like Pop or Rock outside of Japan?

All it takes is eurobeat appearing in a popular movie or something and some people would latch on to it. Its easy to digest, fast, fun and catchy.

 No.85249

Could Ace of Base be considered Eurobeat?

 No.85265

Eurobeat is totally a meme. Doesn't mean it's not fun.

 No.85266

>>85249

Not really, just traditional Eurodance. Eurobeat is more of a throwback thing.

That album is some real good shit. They even managed to make eurobeat out of Thriller on it, that's amazing.

>>85266

Eurobeat could be considered higher tempo Eurodance that's slightly more predictable.

 No.85415

It's just a meme by weeaboos who are into cars and shit

 No.85965

>>85049

But that eurobeat began to sound less like italo-disco in the mid-90's.

>>85073

>This is pop levels of blandness.

Also the lyrical themes are the same most of the time, and there's a tendency to overuse such words as "fire," "desire," etc. in the lyrical content.

>>85080

>A neat little detail; Fabio Lione (who sings for Angra and previously for Rhapsody of Fire) also produced/sang Eurobeat under the name J. Storm. A few other lesser-known Italian metal singers (most of them are friends of major Eurobeat figure Dave Rodgers [real name: Giancarlo Pasquini]) sang Eurobeat too.

As much as I love the Initial D soundtrack hell, I'm listening to it right now, it's hard to take it seriously as a genre when the only albums featuring it are dance mixes.
