Do you guys like progressive rock? I'm listening to this right now, apart from the cheesey lyrics it's pretty good. It's really good even. It has kind of a dance-y new wave feel, and maybe the slightest hint of jazz. Can we talk about prog? This board is pretty dead. Let's have a comfy thread. Give me some recs please.
Also, track 3 "I'd Rather Be a Man"
Your jeans are tight but you hide your sack
Wtf? Did I hear that right?

APP are decent I was getting into them not long ago, although I do think they try to imitate The Beatles and Pink Floyd too much sometimes. I see the cheesiness as a feature, I like it. Their first album themed around Edgar Allan Poe stories was my favourite.
I've been listening to Electric Light Orchestra recently, who granted aren't really pure prog rock since they had other interesting things going on (and of course since it only lasted for half a decade before they moved to a more poppy and accessible direction) but they're still pretty good. Like APP they also attempt to imitate The Beatles too much though (the intro to Mister Kingdom on Eldorado sounds 1:1 to Across The Universe).

I only consider King Crimson and some of Yes as true prog, the rest are a successor to psychedelic and at the time contemporary rock but mellower, longer, and prententious.
