here where I live people don't usually buy books of any matter just the school required ones and that's in elementary/high school. after that people who buys books is a rare occurrence. I think it also matters the tax that the goverment have to books (19% of tax). is a maddness.
for books required in college people usually take them lend in the uni library (if there's one) or just simply pirate them and print it (not by themselves, that's too costful)

Our libraries don't stock enough textbooks for everyone to borrow, and we have to return them in 3 weeks anyway. As for pirating, I just don't like reading from a screen, especially when it's a lot. Used textbooks are helpful since they're dirt cheap and often have the previous owner's annotations inside.

I played in Game Day today. There was a foil promo Languish on the line for all the top 8 players plus the normal prize payout. I made it to top 4 and we all split the prize packs evenly at 10 apiece and played for the playmat that goes to first place. I lost at that point, but I had a ton of fun and got 10 packs and a sweet promo that I traded for something I wanted out of it.

My roommate isn't moving in until the 21st, though. He's a close friend of mine, we've been buddies since like 4th grade.
I hear that rooming with your friends is a bad idea because you'll end up clashing and hate them by the end of the year. I doubt that's always true, though. I think it probably applies more to girls than boys. Girls tend to hold grudges and be mad at each other a lot longer than guys do. I can't ever remember holding a grudge against someone who's my friend for more than like a day.

I don't think my previous post was all that helpful, so I'll say it frankly. I don't hate you, and it would take a lot more than just one minor incident to make me hate you. I may have been disappointed earlier, but I've forgiven you. It's been difficult. Rewarding for sure, but it's a lot of work. Even though I like what I study I have gotten burned out at times. You have to treat it like a full time job to do really well, and need to be able to motivate yourself since nobody is going to force you to do your work or learn anything extra you may need. I think a hugbox is often used as a derogatory term because if too extreme it can lead to people accepting everything as equally valid, even if something is wrong. In the case of opinions it's one thing, but when people disregard facts in favor of not offending anyone it can be a problem. Wrong information can spread and persist that way. People liking each other and being friendly while still being able to disagree or point out something that is demonstrably incorrect is very nice.
On chans unfortunately some people love to start shit just to do it, and any time people are nice they call it hugboxing, which gets old after while.

Sorry about the early lock, I get a little panicky about everyone making a smooth transition to a new thread since there were a few times when it wasn't clear a new thread had started, so the lock became a sort of standard practice for "time for a new thread guys, move up a floor".
We can still take turns. I feel pressured whenever it's time to make a new one so it'll be helpful to me too. Just let us know that you'll make the next thread.
