Summer is here, can't read a shit on phone screen outside now, and paper books can't be pirated as nice as they are.
What does /lit/erati use? I'm thinking of getting a top of line Kobo reader, how is the screen glare on that? I owned e-ink reader years ago and back in the days it was pretty awful, how is it now on paperwhite/carta tech?

I have a basic 8th gen kindle. Sometimes buy books off of amazon, sometimes they give away classics for free. Sometimes I pirate, which is ez on kindle. Get the paperwhite if you want, I didn't because I figured I could turn on a light I guess.
The screen is very good on the kindle I would say, looks like paper. Resolution is alright I guess, could be higher but it's workable. Touch response is good too.
Do get a jacket for it though, it scratches easily and doesn't really like moisture much, which is a bit of a bitch because I live in the tropics.

How's reading on 6" screen? That's smaller than most paperbacks.

There's two very recent threads on this topic here already …
I've a Huawei 10" which I couldn't now do without. I like the bigger screen.
May I suggest utterly avoiding kindle - the files for it are not very compatible with other systems, swapping with friends etc. An adroid tablet will read ePub, pdfs etc and you can download almost anything ever written from the internet for it easily. Free too, easily found and without legal issues if what you're downloading is (cough, cough) out of copyright.

I don't see the point of ereaders if they don't come with a 3mm headphone jack.
Most of the ebooks I buy came with a free audio version, but if I can't listen to that audio version and have it synced so I can switch from reading to listening at a whim why not just buy a regular old book?
There's no point in having an e-reader with 100 books on it when I can only read 1 book at a time anyway, and then just take it back to the library and get another.

The best one around I've ever found is
Master PDF Editor.
I don't use it much for editing, but it's a brilliantly functional reader

I own a PocketBook Basic 3 now. It can't handle .pdf or .djvu (it's very good that it supports the latter) files with very well, because panning the view around the document seems to be impossible. It has no touchscreen, which is typical for any reader under 200$ as I hear. Typing can get awkward with the directional buttons. Other than that, I'm satisfied. The Send-to-PocketBook feature is very convenient; you have to register an e-mail address and then the reader will download any files you have sent to the device's e-mail when Wi-Fi connection is turned on.

I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite and it's the best thing I've bought in a while, I love the backlight and the e-ink shit.
That being said, you should really use calibre to manage a library of dubiously sourced files (ie /pdfs/, libgen), and make sure they're either pdf, mobi, or azw3, because the kindle doesn't accept epub without jailbreaking.
