American here. yes, I skipped "platform" for this reason, but read most others. they are very entertaining, and also make me feel comforted (i know this sounds gay). i really enjoy them even if his concepts are repetitious.
i love his description of food, culture, french literary history, and scenes. i feel like i learned a lot about France from it.
