Even more funny is how you can claim that Liberalism, the ideology where personal freedom is one of it's key concepts, would EVER advocate for political correctness when that's nothing but undermining your own personal freedom. You didn't think this through very well.

Liberalism does not advantage for atheism or agnosticism any more than it advocates for any religion. You're free to worship whatever deity you want after all, which does include no deity at all.

What you're not allowed to do is use religion to undermine the culture and laws of a country or force values onto anyone at all. If they agree with you, they'll be your believers. If they don't, you don't get to convert them by force.

This means the Catholic Church should be allowed to have it's chruches and hold mass, but not interfere with the government in policy-making, just like Islam is free to have it's Mosques as long as it doesn't advocate for violence in them or try to enforce Sharia Law.

That said, the Leftists of today are not the same as the ones from many years back. The Left today demands government intervention to solve their problems, fix their lives and protect them from anything and anyone (which ironically is what the Right is known for) while the previous Left dreaded the government and didn't want them to meddle with anything at all.

So in a way, you're kinda correct when you say Liberalism are modern day Hippies but only in that, like Hippies for older times, they too want the government to stay the fuck away from them.

The Horseshoe Theory isn't about "fringe ideologies", it's about common points between what some claim to be completely different points of view.

There's no common point between the 2 "ideologies" shown in that pic, one is in fact just the negation of the other.

It's also not about the "center position", the center of the horseshoe does not matter at all for the theory itself. In fact, what this picture acuratly shows is a "middle ground" falacy, not the horseshoe theory. Which ironically, makes the whole image a strawman.

If you wanted to use the "pay 25$ to fuck your drug dealer's retarded sister" example which, let's be frank, it's only there for shock value and to try and further discredit the idea the way 12 years old discredit ideas by mixing the words "poop" in their description of them, then you'd have the following example:

The Right would defend the "pay 25$ to fuck your drug dealer's retarded sister" as he's a young entrepeneur that wants to make some cash exploiting a natural resource, while the Left would advocate that she should get 30$ instead and the government has to legistate that as the minimum value to pay.

In the end, both would still be advocating for you to "pay money to fuck your drug dealer's retarded sister", they'd just disagree on the amount, who gets the cash and how should the government police the whole affair.
