Even ignoring the fact that bathing has quite a few personal benefits (health, not feeling like a fat slob, etc), doing something for other's benefit is not purely altruistic. Practicing personal grooming makes you appear more professional, and gives people the impression that you have your shit together. This improves your reputation among them, and makes it easier for you to pursue your ambitions, especially if it entails cashing a favor or two along the way.

You're also wrong. If you don't rinse the oils off of you for a long period of time and you wear any kind of headphones or have any kind of hair on your head you will become itchy and get zits, which become painful and disgusting with time. Showing daily isn't necessary, weekly isn't really either, but you can't forego it entirely without zits and irritated skin.

habitual disgusting slob chiming in, i last showered about 12 days ago and my hair and skin are pretty greasy, and i sweat a lot. i look slovenly and smell revolting to most other people, but i genuinely have to say i think acne and pimples have a genetic factor because i never get them, only one or two at a time on my shoulders and places like that.
