The market is not some deterministic cosmic entity that operates within a linear historical pattern. Get that Marxist crap outta here. Nobody has ever claimed that purchases and decisions individuals make are always necessarily for their best by default. What is claimed is that there isn't, and never will be, objective means to determine a purely subjective thing as one's personal well-being. Individuals do better at figuring it out for themselves. If that includes making mistakes on a grand scale, then so be it. It doesn't undermine personal choice. Imposing rule upon others is not a part of the market anyway. You can only trade what you own and you don't own people, making any sort of government illegitimate.
