What I mean to say is, welfare benefits might have allowed low-income mothers to get by without drunk, violent, or abusive fathers who would have had a bad influence on the children. I'm not saying mothers don't also have those traits, but it happens to be mothers who almost always take care of them, so in reality it is the mothers who might be keeping out harmful men.

In any case, regardless of who's to blame, conflict between parents is always a bad thing in a house with children, so it's not necessarily the case that they'd be better off with the father in the house.

Of course fathers *can* provide a good influence, but this is not always the case, and it seems to me least likely to be the case in the lower income brackets.

Awaiting your thoughts on this /liberty/.

Well, you're starting off with the conclusion that moms are usually blameless in these disputes and better caretakers of children than dads, without any evidence that that's the case. With welfare, you are basically paying to split families and to tear children away from their fathers.

Like others have pointed out they just end up "getting by" with multiple abusive partners with kids from everyone because they get more gibs the more children they have. Single mothers raise then raise uncontrollable, crime-prone children that either become slaves to the welfare state themselves or grow up to be the same deadbeat dads you're claiming the system is combating. The welfare state not only allows for broken homes and dysfunctional families, it subsidizes and supports the creation of such.

Based just on our personal experience, if me and sister had any choice in the matter we would have rather stayed with our "abusive" father who is a pretty decent guy and loves us both despite drinking twice a week to try and forget about his depression, it would've honestly been better to live with him than our "loving" mother who ruined our life in every practical way that she could and dragged us along on an adventure of poverty and suffering just to spite our father who she hates for not being perfect (and she isn't perfect either, she was the same alcoholic piece of shit as him by the time of the divorce).

And no, I don't think these women deserve any money from tax-payers, because if they are impulsive enough to leave their husbands over the silliest shit, then they are also impulsive enough to make the stupidest decisions and to spend money recklessly enough to get into poverty again, as was the case with our own mom who lived like a queen when she got some cash, and then wondered why we were all hungry and poor again after a month. I couldn't even go to high school until I was fortunate enough to illegally get employed at 14 and save enough money to pay for it myself (fuck commies and liberals and their whining about "child labour". By preventing kids from working, you're creating poverty, as well as oppressing the most defenseless, the most helpless part of the population) while our useless mom was selling our fucking property to get a small fortune she could squander for a few months before being poor again, which I was btw supposed to inherit it from my grandad and we could've lived there rent-free.

I realize this is a very biased opinion, but I also know I'm not the only one, I'm speaking for half a generation here. Seriously. Fuck single mothers. If you're a single mom, OP, or if you want my money just for being so poor and miserable and for having a cunt, you can burn in hell. The greatest abuse rates are in single mother families, both from the moms themselves but also from pedophiles and abusers who take advantage of emotionally weak women with damaged and/or out-of-control children.
