This is a pretty ridiculous thing to say. Yes we did have a number of dems come over after the Bernie fallout, but we also had a number of libertarian republicans come over as well. A large portion of the republican base is still very statist even among the moderates, along with a still present heavy dose of Neo-cons and RINOS. If anything the republicans went even further to the right during the election. Praying for a decent libertarian republican to rise out from that is wishful thinking.
Johnson was a weak candidate and made the party look foolish at the end, there is no argument about that. However, the party numbers have swelled, which is a good thing. We have also had a number of sitting dems and republicans switch to the party as well. And just like any other party, there are caucuses made of different strains of libertarians. Which means that there is a more radical, more ancap leaning presence in the Libertarian party. As such they will have a far greater influence on the direction of the party, than a similar ancap presence could ever even hope to have in the republican party. The growth of the Libertarian party is essential in spreading the ideas of libertarianism regardless if it is minarchy or ancap. Endorsing the right Libertarian candidate for the next presidential election is key. Johnson was a weak speaker, but they went with him because he had a name. In our past election, names were all that mattered.
