Statism is idolatry. Prove me wrong.

All the elements of an organized religion are there. There is a blind faith that nothing is impossible to the state, an expectation that the state take care of all our problems, and we even have people coming together by the thousands to chant weird slogans. During the last presidential election, you had the losers crying like their mother just died and the "winners" (there were no winners) treating Trump like he was the Second Coming.

If you can find an english translation of it, I recommend Mit Brennender Sorge. Pius XI warned the Germans in 1937 that they were worshipping a surrogate God.

You know I noticed with secular atheist progressives they do behave like a religion in some regards. The fedora tippers fetishize science and use it as a buzzword rather than dig deeper into the studies that scientists do. There's something weird how they still act religious towards certain concepts despite having no god.

 No.70949

Honestly, modern progressivism comes off kind of religious. I know there's some document on post-millenial movements that explain this and how progressivism originated from Protestant america.

Fedora tippers are deluded. Most of them only care about physicalist philosophy and don't even understand the positions they're trying to refute, and few - as you say - even understand their science.

Haven't read that one, but it sounds interesting. Where'd you find it?

I prefer to worship the economy. It puts on a semblance of being a cold, uncaring god, but modern wealth, tech, and security all arise from it. The economy is a god that need not be benevolent to protect and supply us as though it were. It's also more primordially real than the state. There would not be a state if there were no economy; there would still be an economy if there were no state. To survive, the state must serve the economy. People starve, sicken, and burn when the state tries to make the economy serve the state!

Beyond that, understanding the idea of the idea of god helps make sense of psuedoreligious conduct. Do you believe in the power of God? Do you believe in the power of the idea of God? If you believe in the power of the idea of God, you believe in God the same way a communist believes in communism, even if you don't believe in an actual God. Communists do not believe in a Ghost Of Marx that empowers them and drives history. They believe in an idea so powerful that it positively motivates all who truly understand it.

the basis is people. certain character types to be specific.

their psychological profile is a heavy inclination towards this: they have certain vulnerabilities wich can be exploited. this may take the form of religion, of marxism/socialism/democracy, of celebrity culture, of state.

this sort of thing is close to omni present. I would point out that you can even use for good purposes, although it is very double edged.

Mate avoiding a quick dive into hell is very simple when you realize that you're going to be punished eternally for something you're only going to be benefiting form in one life.

 No.71014

Behead those who insult the State.

 No.71018

I fear no heresy, for the economy protects me. Free yourself of pagan superstitions and reach for eternal life! Humans are master and servant of the economy at once, for to serve the will of economy is to serve the will of the customer, and we are all customers and providers at different times in our lives. As none do will to die, so it is that the invisible hand extends our lives, and someday shall extend them without limit if we can be pure enough in our faith.

Of course it's idolatry. People need hope and will scavenge it wherever they're allowed and it's not blatantly incorrect to do so. Raising up kings is only subtly incorrect; even very smart people have at times fallen for that.

I think I saw an article of it on Mises.org or something?
