As you all, we once started a project where we collected essays and put them into one book, called the Book of /liberty/. As you might also know, we had quite some leftists on this board back then and weren't quite as rabid towards each other. As a result, the Book of /liberty/ was filled with disdainful and disgusting leftist falsehoods, including an essay by Bob Black on how we should go back to the ancient times where people lived a more playful existence, unburdened by work. Not sure whether this carefree and relaxed life referred to the Helots or to the hordes of Timur. Who cares about historical reality when you can bitch about your cubicle job all day, anyway?

Not satisfied with the results, I started a new project, the New Book of /liberty/. The thread got slided to oblivion before we got more than two or three essays. That was a little more than a year ago, I think, but I remain undeterred and would like to start a similar project.

This time, we would write the thing ourselves, not create an anthology of pre-released stuff. Chapters could deal with topics like crime, military defense, caring for the poor, the role of religion in libertarianism, the errors of communism, and so on. Or, and I like this idea even more, we could have a general discussion on ethics and economics and then go on to describe each form of government/society with pro- and counter-arguments, or just counter-arguments if there's a consensus they're shit.

We got a lot of smart heads here and many different viewpoints, so I think that even if this went nowhere, we would at least end up with an interesting collection of facts and ideas.

>Or, and I like this idea even more, we could have a general discussion on ethics and economics

I've been intermittently working on something like this part for a few years. Starts off introducing logic, then ethics as a subset of logic, then on to law as a broad concept based on ethics. The idea was to cite some historical proof-of-concept toward the back for all the "what about __?" stuff, probably after a chapter dismissing the common objections on principle.

I wouldn't mind helping but I don't think there would be much point, but doesn't the /liberty/ reading list threads fulfill the same function?

 No.58632

i posted my essay somewhere on this board

I actually planned something similar, but it's still at the concept-stage. Interesting there's two of us here.

>>58597

I meant an original work. Like For a New Liberty, except written by ten anons in collaboration. So not just a collection of essays, like we compile them in the reading-threads.

>>58632

Sorry, no essays this time. We can incorporate good posts, of course.

 No.58676

what about compiling good webms/mp4/mp3 ? it is easier to listen rather than to read

I think some MP4/webms alongside some of the reading material isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's some god tier lectures from Hoppe and other at the Mises institute floating around on youtube, so I don't think his suggestion is too far fetched.

> Like For a New Liberty, except written by ten anons in collaboration. So not just a collection of essays, like we compile them in the reading-threads.

We'd probably need an IRC or something of the sort for such a collaboration.

I liked the idea of an essay collection because it brings eyes to interesting, underrated thoughts. What could be said that hasn't been said already? I wouldn't bother just rewriting what we already know unless it's in a form designed for imageboard consumption.

 No.58808

So? How does one get in on this?

 No.58810

I like this idea. I particular think it would be good to make some /liberty/ responses to typical statist arguments that you approach on the internet a dozen times a year - like how would x work without government, debunking universal healthcare, debunking the Scandinavian paradise myths, explaining is simple terms the fundamental flaws with democracy, et cetera. We could all present arguments, then play devil's advocate until we have something that is really refined.

Don't forget "robots are stealing muh jobs".

 No.58960

Just started assembling some statistics on famines. Will be a pain to sift through all the sources, but oh well. And fuck Amartya Sen, nigger washed some numbers to fit his conclusions. Fuck this guy so hard.

>>58810

Like an F&Q? Sounds good to me, although there are some out there already, but none that get passed around regularly on the chans.

I have a better idea - let's host a website with all the articles, and a PDF of the book so we can chart our progress as we go along.

Github offers free static hosting, and we can ( I think ) implement comments from disqus ( or make a thread here ).

Hosting is free, and we can also upload documents for free.

Using a static website generator is easy, and it has preconfigured themes so the most we have to do is write our articles in markdown ( aka reddit style ) and they'll be automagically converted and hosted.

I'm making a repo right now.

And tracking changes is easy with github, and every change is stored forever.
