What's your opinion on smokers, /kind/? Or do you smoke yourself?

 No.29711>>29718

I don't smoke and I don't like it when someone near me does it. Otherwise I don't care.

I think it's a bit odd and paradoxical since it doesn't even feel good! Unless you already have a smoking habit, but in that case the good feelings come from the dissipating withdrawal symptoms.

Do you smoke because you like to have control over when you feel good and relaxed? As in, you can rely on a cig to make you feel good when you need it? I'm just curious about the psychology behind it.

My personal opinion is that I don't want to have a smoking habit, but I support your choice to use whatever you want. I also think pipes look classy and scented / spiced tobacco smells really nice.

Oh yeah, and I tried kretek once. It leaves this really odd sweet taste on your lips, I'd highly recommend it. Although I believe Indonesians are notorious for the ridiculous amounts of tar in their cigs.

 No.29717>>29740

I do like to Hookah sometimes with my sis and cousin. Besides that, I do not really care, though I find the smell of marijuana and cigs in general nauseating.

I smoke because it helps me relax, so pretty much yeah. It helps stopping me from worrying too much.

And I'm actually Indonesian, so all the cigs I smoke are kretek. And yes, it's nice!

>>29711

I'm well aware that some people don't like or can't stand the smell of tobacco smoke, so I never smoke anywhere near people except other smokers.

 No.29720

For some reason I rather enjoy the smell of cigarette smoke, but I've tried smoking and I hated everything other than that.

Marijuana smoke is sort of annoying unless I'm smoking it myself, which I do probably like once or twice a year.

Hate them if the smoke gets to me. It irritates my eyes and nose.

I've only smoked once and it was a bit of marijuana. It bothered my throat. It put me into a relaxed state and listening to music was chill. But that was about it.

I used to have a ridiculously nice friend who was a smoker. It was distressing to watch his health deteriorate like it did.

 No.29740

Burger. Have never smoked or even tried; dad used to smoke, but quit, so our whole family is smoke-free. But where I work and in my socioeconomic class most people smoke to the extent I sometimes feel left out never goin' out for a smoking break with the boys!

>>29717

Have been to a hookah bar once though. I do enjoy the smell of tobacco, and I like the romance of hookahs. I've long thought it'd be cool if there was a college dorm called East with a hookah lounge by the foyer.

 No.29743

Never tried and will never try.

I do feel bad for their addiction, but hold my breath everytime I'm near a burning cigarette. These things have an awful stench.

My opinion of marijuana and marijuana users is even lower.

I did something very similar. But i stopped when we stopped hanging out. It was just something i did to pass time with her because i really enjoyed being with her.

I don't think you should keep the habit. I sometimes smoke socially. But it's rare. In the last 6 months i think i only smoked 3 times. -~5 cigs a year won't give me cancer and could still socialize with smokers if necessary.

 No.29772

I absolutely hate smoking. My older brother was a smoker and I couldn't stand it at all. I don't understand how some people even see it as a turn on.

As for smokers themselves, with the amount of information available about the harmful effects they should know what they're getting into. I'm definitely against teens and younger smoking, but if it's an adult that decides to smoke, or they started out young but still don't stop despite the consequences, that's their choice.

I've have the displeasure of seeing particular types being, I dunno, elitist about their smoking who act as if they don't understand why people can't stand smoking. I'm certain those few are just the minority because I haven't seen them pop up much. I mean I get why people would smoke in the first place, so I actually don't have much against smokers themselves unless they're doing it to intentionally harm others or something.

With that being said, Truth ads are fucking irritating and feel like they're some sort of false flag operation to get people to smoke more out of spite or something.

Although this won't be ever an issue for me for numerous reasons, but I cannot stand to have a smoker as a romantic partner ever

It feels good to me, I love the taste, the smell and how I feel when I do it.

I smoke cigars and pipes do.

I smoked cigarettes before, those indeed I was not enjoying, just addiction.

Pipes and cigars aren't addictive to me, haven't smoked in 2 days and don't feel the need. I want to cause I like it but don't have the time for it :c

I obviously wasn't talking about a pipe smoker who refrained from inhaling, so what's your point?

 No.30255

I resent smokers. It's a telltale sign that someone should be avoided.

 No.30288>>30294

I don't have anything against smokers, but people who smoke in public really get me pissed off. They must either not realize that its harming other people or, even worse, they don't care.

3 every 4 dead people of my family died as a direct result of cigarettes, and one of the reasons I left home was because my mother would smoke inside the small apartment we lived in. She smoked a lot and I could barely breathe, there was ashes of cigarettes everywhere, the smell impregnated in every room but my own, and on top of that I was born with renitis. Took me one and a half year of steady treatment to cure all the symptoms I aquired by living for some 19 years with a smoking parent. Obviously I never did any drugs, and I'm the kind of person who frowns upon this kind of thing, even though I respect the decisions of people who do otherwise, but public smokers are on a level that much lower to me.

 No.30294

>>29716

>since it doesn't even feel good

It does, personally. Smoking some tasty thing on a cold day and feeling the smoke and heat feels awesome, not to say anything about nicotine: I don't feel like it relaxed me, really. Not exactly. It focused me, gave me a longer attention span and faster, narrower wits. Great for writing - words or music - and thinking. Also got me kinda dizzy, which was funny, in a way. Guess I'm the kind of person that likes nicotine but hates weed.

Now, do you know the biggest, greatest thing about smoking? It is an easy way out of social situations, a clear "don't bother me" signal, a past-time, and a conversation starter with odd/nice people all at once.

You are having a shit time at a party? Go take a smoking break, someone in the smoking area is going to start chatting, and they tend to be good, nice, friendly people. Even better if you offer them a lighter or are smoking something odd or different.

You're feeling awkward as you always feel in a social situation? Light a smoke, suddenly you have something to do and all is fine.

You're waiting for something for hours and there's absolutely nothing to do and you're starting to feel bored and time just doesn't go by? Light a cig.

Now, I loved smoking my pipe with that delicious chocolate-scented tobacco, but the most practical use was cig only.

I don't smoke anymore. Been what, 6 months? Never really got addicted and smoking kinda got stale after I got short on money to buy good tobbaco for ryos. Industrial cigs are just horrid. And I noticed it got my sweat and cum tasting all kinds of wrong, that too.

But I miss the social practicality of cigs. So much that I'm buying 0 nicotine tutti-frutti flavored juice for my e-cig first opportunnity. Nothing is as practical for someone who's awkward as blowing smoke. Really, nothing. At all.

>>30288

Doesn't know how it is around there, friend. But here, smokers are being pushed from all sides - so much there's no other place to smoke other than in public or inside one's own home. And as you said, smoking at home is a bad, bad idea.

I don't smoke and have never attempted to smoke.

Unless picking up a cigarette of the ground, inhaling it and dropping it counts. I was about 10 years old when I did that.

Be mindful of where you smoke,

and stop smoking when you're walking. (because holy shit i hate getting smoke blown into my face. i want to tackle those people down and shove the cigarette down their throat and tease them with a water bottle. fuck you if you do this. god damn).

While it feels good to inhale that stuff, it's mostly because nobody will bother you when you're smoking - people enjoy consuming stuff to take off their minds from stressful situations.

You're building up affection to it.

The more you have good memories with something (something that makes you feel good after consuming it), the more likely you'll resort on using it when you're under stress.

This is basic stuff, but people seem to think there's a deep complex issue when it comes to smoking.

If you have nothing to rely other than cigarettes, then it's okay.

i still take hot baths when im feeling awful.

Smoker here, I started smoking sometime during highschool, then quite, and now several months ago i went back due to reasons.

>how can people even enjoy smoking?

It's an acquired taste sort of thing, you try your first cigarette thinking "this is awful!", but then you feel a certain attraction to it from that point, which only grows stronger with every try.

It's not just the withdrawal symptoms, it makes you relaxed, helps sooth emotions when you are going to explode (there were a bad few months in my life where I'd use smoking to repress the urge to cry.) and even the taste itself is enjoyable if you smoke a decent tobacco.

I don't want it to sound like i'm advocating smoking, of course.

I've developed a terrible cough, I get pissy at people if I'm prevented from smoking, it's murder on my already-lousy fitness and I know that even if i stop now i've already tanked my life expectancy.

but whatever, i guess.

I don't think so, because if it was just nicotine any brand would do, but there are certain brands that make me go 'ugh' in disgust, like Next or even Winston.

Don't like it at all. Grew up with asthma after breathing too much cigarette smoke as a baby. It's almost all gone now which is cool though. But now almost all my friends smoke and to be honest it's just disappointing. Nothing against hookah or weed or whatever, but cigarettes are just fucking nasty.

Cigarettes seem to just corrupt shit. Make things smelly and stained, and that includes people. Seen almost all my friends start smoking over the years and some of em are fiends, seen em smoking butts off the sidewalk. Then they wanna share a pipe with me but nah man, that's gross.
