No one is every gonna wanna fly commercial on these things, ever.

But Boeing is locked into churning them out for next decade or so.

Most of the problem is "weight balance" issue, so if modded for US Govt use, that would be solved by addition/subtraction of various equip.

737 is currently being used as our newest anti-sub aircraft.

Boeing owes US Govt big time, and I'm sure the Pentagon could always find lots of use for even stock commercial version of 737max.

MAYBE, after a few years of military testing and few thousand takeoffs and landings, civilian airliners might re-consider.

The MAX is just a re-engined 737-800 so they can swap the engines back and instantly solve the off center thrust issue and eliminate the need for MCAS. They will take a financial hit but at least still be profitable.

As for solving the low center of thrust all that can be done is adding weight below the center of the engines and as you can see that wouldn't be easy.

Just design a bigger landing gear, mount the engines farther back and use an Airbus tier flight assist which calculates an upper limit on elevator deflection according to sensor readouts instead of trimming the plane with no survivors.
