About several months back, I went to a garage sale and found a collection of knives. However, I found something that caught my eye. The guy selling it said it was a Japanese WW2 Rifle Bayonet. I checked online to determine its authenticity. I want your thoughts and insights on this, /k/ommandos. Here's the gallery: https://postimg.cc/gallery/k5xlpb48/

That's pretty clearly an Arisaka bayonet.

You didn't think to look up "Japanese WWII Rifle" and check out the pokers on the end to see if they're just like yours?

Nah, never passed my mind. The guy told me what it was and I only used some site to get a somewhat vague reference. Now that you mention it, might go find an Arisaka to go with it or just put it on a display case. Either way, a cool find.

How much did you pay for it?

ed087e  No.630734

It doesn't look very sharp. Can you video it in action?

What's the best place to obtain one of those Chinese 7.62x39 Arisakas? What's a good price for them? Are they safe?

$40

It isn't sharp, even against styrofoam. https://my.mixtape.moe/ylpzbf.webm

Folded over 100 times and quenched in the blood of Chinese fetuses Katana c-section'd out of the wombs; will bring high honor while you're flying a Cessna towards a Coast Guard boat

It's a rare Jinsen Arsenal (curr. Korea) blade of probably mid-to-late war production; the guard is simplified, and the blade is parkerised, both indicative of a mid/late war production. Missing the stopper button.

The wooden hilt is either severely degraded or replaced, and I don't think the screws are original. Either way, it's a good find, and the blade is definitely authentic. Jinsen arsenal bayonets are very hard to find iirc.

I agree with you Nihon-senpai, it seems to be a Type 30. That is definitely an impressive find, OP. Treasure it always.

For the most part bayonets weren't sharpened. Leave the edge be and give it a wipe with a silicone rag.

I just received a bring back Type 30 bayonet from Guam, same kind as this but the quillion is straight. I wanna match it with a rifle, any arisakafags here got advice on getting a Type 99 as my first rifle? I found a good early production for 400, all the bells and whistles except for a monopod, intact mum too. A little pricey but right now last ditch guns are going up to 250-300, they're appreciating kinda quickly so I think 400 would be the ballpark for an early one, it's a series 7 Nagoya I believe

Okay. When I do, I'll post pics of it. When I get a display case for it, I might also get a little engraving plate for the case. Any suggestions on what to put on said plate?

Thank you. Also, do you know of a place to get an arisaka, one that doesn't cost too much of an arm and a leg?

I think these are sorta common but I might have another in storage.

I recently bought a Type 99 series 23 for $320 but the whole gun is parkerized and the mum was ground off, fires though. Bought it on the last day of a gun show so the guy was kind desperate to sell off some of the older guns he brought. $400 for a early war type 99 is a good price as long as the bore is not damaged, also try to identify if it still has the cleaning rod, Anti aircraft sights, or dust cover. All of those things add to the value, if it is stripped of all of those things then $400 might be a bit high but like i said if it fires then it isnt to bad a deal.
