Actually, there are thousands of merchant ships and they each follow a very strict path. The sea might look endless to us but on maps and radar it is no different than a highway. There are many areas around the oceans where there are so many ships 24/7 that make the nightime look like you're in the middle of a megacity.
However, military vessels are faster and more maneuverable than these merchant ships. They should have no problems with avoiding them and and they don't have any reason to go through high-traffic areas either.
So, technically it is very possible for merchant ships to collide in the middle of an ocean, but for a lone military ship to go ram itself of a slow huge tanker is certainly absurd and the level of incompetence required for such a thing is nothing but mind blowing. I'm honestly embarrassed at /k/ for the other responses you've received. No, the US could not have used nuclear bombs as a key part of their strategy to defeat the Soviets in an offensive continuation of WWII.
The most obvious reason why this was not possible was that the Trinity test didn't take place until several months after VE day. While the US could have certainly launched an offensive against the Soviets from anywhere between VE day and August of 1949 when the USSR conducted their first nuclear test, every week thaf passed after the German surrendee meant more men, materiel, and general militarily useful infrastructure had been put in place in the Soviet controlled portions of Western Europe. The difficulty with which the combined forces of the US, UK, France, and (hopefully) Germany could assault the massive Soviet army increased exponentially with each passing month. The Soviets simply regeared fheir purely offensive effort into a defensive one too quickly for the US to benefit from their nuclear bomb production becoming freed for use in Europe after VJ day.
The second, slightly less obvious issue is that America's nuclear weapons production capacity was so low that only a handful of bombs could be manufactured in the 1945-1949 timeframe needed to exercise their total nuclear advantage. While the US could have brought a 3rd bomb into service by late-August to early-September of 1945, their production facilities were run dry for several months after that. In fact, the total nuclear stockpile only reached 13 active bombs by the end of 1947 with an actually useful stockpile of 50 bombs only available by the end of 1949 after the Soviets had changed the game by conducting their own successful nuclear test.
Basically, the Soviets had an enormous manpower and materiel advantage in the immediate aftermath of WWII. While this could be countered with an immediate surprise attack before they had redeployed their entirely offensive army into a defensive one, the US led coalition didn't have the trump card that was the bomb and even those that knew about the program weren't assured it would even work as it had never been tested. By the time the US had more than 1 bomb to spare for a fight against the Soviets, they had lost the possibility of winning rhe battle for the front with conventional warfare alone. Hesitant to bomb territory within Western Europe (you know, the land and population centers of the people they would have been trying to save) they ceded their total nuclear advantage by giving the Soviets enough time to build a bomb of their own. A single bomb dropped on Moscow would have done nothing to prevent the absolute slaughter which would have been the front line of any post-1945 offensive and by the time enough bombs were available to bomb the Soviet homeland into submission, the Soviets had developed jet powered interceptor/fighter aircraft that would render a B-29 led raid that deep into the motherland a suicide mission.

However they were nearly wiped out during the Polish crusades of the area which is where the Tutonic Order moved in, and Germans started to settle east into the tutonic order and to a lesser extent the Livonian Order. Parts of Prussia lost more than half its population during the crusades and the southern half along Poland’s border was almost entirely depopulated. The remaining Old Prussians assimilated with the German settlers which is why Teuton is a synonym for German, and Teutonic Order in German is Deutscher Orden literally meaning German Order.

I guess you also think that Southern Irish don’t know English too? Because the 18th century is basically the death of the Old Prussian language. That doesn’t mean that no one spoke it before it died it means that more and more people were speaking low German (East Prussian dialect) until Old Prussian died out in the 18th century. Many South Irish still speak Irish so I guess they don’t know English, according to your logic.
Just because the German country and state was named Prussia doesn’t mean it was formed by ethnic Prussians who, as I mentioned, were mixed with German settlers by the 15th century anyways. So east Prussians (the German state) probably had more western Slav/Baltic in them then Brandenburgers but that doesn’t mean they were 100% Baltic.

I wanted to mention this. Moscow is pretty far away from Berlin. You’d need air superiority if not supremacy to get a bomber from Central Europe to Moscow without risking just losing your 1 a-bomb you have. I suppose you could refit an Arado though the Fat Man bomb was 4 times the weight of the Arado’s capable bomb load and as you said soviets were working on jets already. Unless the allies had already launched an offensive and either gotten closer to Moscow or gained Air supremacy (both which would take years) I just can’t see any way an A-bomb could even be brought to Moscow without significant risk of losing it.
Though it would be interesting to see that alternative history because the allies wouldn’t have been able to engage in the period of de-nazification that they did irl, and while I do think there would be Germans willing to fight against the soviets I doubt they would be able to muster much support to send even more men to die after firebombing them for the past year, and also purging leaders and blaming them for killing 600,000,000,000,000 innocent Jews. Werwolf divisions that actually fought back were quite limited so I doubt the average German at the time would be upset over some politicians or generals being executed while they had their entire city to rebuild. Though I think in a situation where the allies did declare war in the soviets after the fall of Berlin, they wouldn’t be able to do very much in Germany but re-build and leave de-nazification for after said war, which by then I’m sure the average grunt would have a harder time believing Shlomo’s lies about the Gnatsees after fighting with them for what would be a long bloody conflict. So I really don’t know how that Germany would turn out in such a scenario.

Another factor is logistics capability and other non war material production food. Soviet railways was at breaking point at end of the war, almost all of their railway industry had been converted to produce tanks and shieet. Most of Lend-Lease railway equipment was delivered after the war. Soviets really needed the locomotives and other rolling stock US delivered to them, even Finland ended up buying trains from US as all of our locomotive factories were too busy building stuff for reparations to Soviets. Food was also issue as Soviets had retaken most of Ukraine and Belarus too late to get harvest in 1944. They didn't really get to restore their agriculture properly properly until 1946.
