I can't handle it right now, but I could wrangle up a private mail box next summer and see if I can't start collections. I tinker a fair bit so I've got a few dozen pounds of gun junk including stocks, barrels, and lots of miscellaneous bits. Full welding and brazing set up as well as various machine tools to get the job done. Unlike the original, this one will be composed entirely of guns. No other structural materials except perhaps for the flooring (if I don't make it out of crushed down casings anyways).
Should it be like the original where you can enter the inside as a place of worship, or should it be made of solid construction so as to form a monolith of sorts? Being able to enter the sanctum is great, but a monolithic construction allows for it to expand indefinitely as more guns can be added to the outside of the existing structure to expand its dimensions. Of course the enterable version can have this as well, but you'll end up with a big gun cube that only has a tiny inner sanctum. You could, in theory I suppose, chop bits off the inside of the walls when needed to expand.
When it is large enough, and when the /k/ompound is secured, we'll move it there. The worshipful can leave an offering of cartridges so that the priests may keep the constant sound of gunfire going on the grounds of worship.

Assuming it's not Blasphemous to build a Kube 2.0,
I'm just musing over what Kube 2.0 could be, particularly the inner sanctum.
Brass floor (no need to crush, just face the primers up so we can read the calibers or arrange them in a neat flowey pattern you know what I mean)
Frame should be made from proper metal beams, after all it's going to hold a lot of weight eventually.
All Patch tributes line the interior walls. Patches of /k/ themes overlap and build up into a komfy wall covering/tapestry.
Roof is lit by flares with red lightbulbs inserted into them.
Single Everlasting Flame sits in the center on a pedestal of some sort, I'd make it macabre just because something has to be skeletal. But that's my 2c. Cast skulls and bones would be cool.
Location: The harder to get to the better. Make it a proper shrine. Would make it impossible to build but I don't know I'm just sperging/fantasizing at this point.
Borthers this could be amazing. Til VanHalen. Melon Lables I'm getting excited now I don't think I'm going to get much sleep.

The original /k/ube had a lot of non-gun filling in the walls. It was more of a gun facade, but yeah we would need some real structural elements to hold it up I suppose. I'm thinking of getting into sand casting so maybe we can mess with melting cartridge brass at next 'fest. Inner sanctum has an altar where a firearm can be laid to be blessed. Skeltals will be a requirement; we'll find a way to work them in. I like the idea of a patch-based tapestry.
Added myself to the map, looks like there's a fellow strelok less than a half hour away. Will have to get into HAM and make contact.

I've done some brass/aluminum casting actually. Pretty easy and fun. Will bring my setup if I can get away from PA for the 'fest. We could experiment with making brass skulls from the spent casings.
If the inner sanctum doesn't smell like Cosmoline we're doing it wrong.

Good man, that would be glorious. I think that the skeletal elements, while fitting, could mayhaps be eschewed or moved in favour of either an offering brazier (burn something as offering that is of significance to you or the concept of /k/ube? Some gunpowder or gunoil? A candle for fallen comrade? Some papers signifying the end of something you had to overcome but is gone now? Heck, a manual for a weapon you are now bonded with) or perhaps just a box for a bottle and few glasses. Camaraderie is still an important aspect of /k/, is it not?
Now then, as far as contibuting to the spirit of /k/, let me see if I can post some images.
Now, a bit of a story of mine. Kind of by extension of how I got on /k/ and properly interested in weapons. Year was 2011, 30th of December, if I recall, I was but a young lad of 16, and I was out with my fellow post-apoc and Fallout fans on a half-larp half /out/ trip to our "most wilderness" range of mountains. Story-driven hiking if you will. In mostly soviet era surp, there was about eight of us there. All older than myself, I was the weakest and least experienced one there.
We got out the cars at the foot of the mountains as sun fell, we got our stuff including a half broken sleigh on which we took turns pulling. On it were our sleeping supplies. Before setting out and up, we went for brief dumpster diving. After that, we set out up into the mountains, and the light dropped very fucking fast. Being a young fuck, I mismanaged my equipment and goddamned lost my gaiters somewhere and let someone talk me into dropping my trusty steels brand steeltoes and instead borrowing his hiking boots in which he scaled much taller mountains. They were drenched a mere half-klick after setting out. I was quickly losing breath, being a little lardylad, and kept lagging behind, and felt my heart pounding in my neck when it was my turn to pull the sleigh with one skid broken up the snowy hillsides. What seemed to be hours of ascend in the snowy, moonless dark turned to gentler and gentler slopes.. We were nearing the ridge. Trees gave a little wider way and the terrain was almost even, and soon we came to a small clearing where stood a massive, ancient, many-branched beech, among spruce covered mountains. Sweaty, exhausted, we came to the tree and prayed to the spirits of the forest for protection.
We backtracked a bit and went little ways down from the footpath and set up camp. Slung overcoats and parkas on low branches, set spears against the treetrunks, set our hats and ušankas on the tips. Guys took out choppy knives and small hatchets and shown me how to make a sleeping spot in the winter. They made a bed of comperatively soft live branches of the everpresent spruces, we set up a small fire, let boots dry a bit and took out flatbread here, dried ham there, a bottle of one guy's homemade wine, other's moonshine, xander root…i mean, ginger to make tea with. We talked and tightened bonds. You know how it is. Shared suck builds companionship. Our soulja lad said that we should work out night watch, and took me aside. Took his bit tactical'd vz.58 with a SVD-like stock, 20rd mag inserted, and komfy, fine-ribbed polymer handguard, just took off the PSOP-1 - I was amazed you could just do that and it's not just a stalker gameplay feature - and told me not to fuck with anything on it, and proceeded to show me how it disassembles and assembles, what does what, basic gun safety and use, and told me how to read the scope. I remember fumbling a lot with even the simple innards of good old Kosa with my cold and clumsy fingers. Evening went on and this one other guy, only few years older than me, always playing a bit of a hero, was complaining of the cold, and was heating up his sleeping bag - a plastic one at that, almost touching the flames. We all told him how bad of an idea it was, and then we quickly put it out when it inevitably caught fire. Luckily only a small superficial hole. We went to sleep after some more stories and drinking. I got second-to-last watch.
15aef8 No.619240
>>619239
I remember having trouble falling asleep, also because of the fucking boots and my feet being cold all day. Eventually I did fall asleep, but woke up in the middle of the night. It was so, so peaceful. No wind, no noises, only the faintest of breathing around me. Eventually I noticed stuff falling on my nose. And then I heard it too. First time I heard snow falling, impacting it's previous brethren. It stuck with me. Then just as what felt like just falling asleep again, guy woke me up, that it is my turn, told me how long and what to do if anything happens, and who is next. I got dressed, got into my frozen boots (didn't know how to prevent that yet), I think I even snapped a lace, but eventually got up, took the raifu, and started patroling around. I remember my phone vibrating in my pocket every few dozen steps, welcoming me in Slovakia, Poland, and back to Czech Republic again, and then again. Sure was the phone confused. I fiddled with the scope seeing only pitch black, looking around, eventually found the reticle illumination switch thingy, and fucked around some more. It started snowing again and I felt oddly proud and secure, guarding others, rifle slung on me, walking the mountains, then after a while I noticed some tracks. I followed them for a while but they went away from the camp, so I didn't go far. Then it struck me, it's just before dawn, it's snowing, they were large and there aren't claws on them. The marks were fresh and I narrowly missed an encounter with a lynx. It git bitterly cold, but soon there started to be more and more light. I used that to scout around a bit more with the scope, and my phone told me it is time for me to change watch. It was the "hero" guy. He was set up several metres away from the rest because he's a strong independent guardian that don't need no man. Or whatever. It took me three tries and a boot nudge to even make him react. So much for guarding. Then when I got him to open his eyes and told him his watch is up, he started saying that he got pneumonia from the ascend and the cold and that he can't get up, that it's cold and he left his coat on the tree. So get this, I had to stand up an adult man, even if in his late teens, and had to dress him up in his coat. I decided that I'm not giving him the rifle, and am taking over his watch. But he can at least keep me company. Had him walk with me as we were still waiting for others to wake up. When walking down the footpath that lead down from the mountain ridge and our camp, I saw someone standing by a tree watching our camp, say 50 metres out. I made a handsign for the hero to stand still and shut up, I brought up the rifle and looking through the scope, having him in the left half of my FoV and finger off the trigger, shouted "Halt! (what's) The password!" only when he jumped, turned around, was holding his dick, and jumped again, I realised it is our leader. And he was pissing. I started laughing and after our group woke up and packed our things to go further, and I gave the rifle back to our soldier, he told me in front of others I did a good job, taking double-watch and catching him "sneaking" around, and almost making him shit himself.
That moment, I realised that while I may be the least fit in the group, I am not the weakest. And that sparked a good bit of pride whose warmth carried me through the wet and cold feet and other lungtorturing ascends. Just a few minutes, maybe 200metres from our camp down, we found a tree with bark clawed off up to three metres high. Our two botanist/biologists said that based on biology magic, it has to be only up to two days old. Bear. And we only got brownies in here. I wasn't sure how I'd've reacted if I encountered ursa arctos with only semi vz.58 and 20rounder. Still, it was an awesome thing to experience and when we went further, a breathtakingly beautiful sights were opened to us. The trip went on through the weekend, while avoiding people and treating them as headhunters, geniune feeling of worry when we heard fireworks going off and flashes flare up in the distance as new year's eve was the next night, and such. All this suck, and wonder, and beauty formed a bond with the others, like summertime urbex and stalkerwork didn't. I got invited to a range trip with the soldierboy the following spring, shot a bunch of cool gats, fingerfucked a genuine SVD and was told about /k/, and my interest was lit aflame proper. And now here I am.
Sorry for going nostalgic and writing a probably stupid short story. But hey. It is my /k/ story.
