There's no discharge in the war!

What do you think about supercharged golf carts popping up all over the battlefield? The number of them in the service of American military is huge, something like 3000 of just the MRZR type now (pic) growing at about 200-300 a year, and thousands more others growing by thousands per year. By 2025 there will likely be more of these vehicles in combat against insurgents than any other. Sadly modern transport aircraft are built so small that only these things can fit in them.

Some specs:

- Passenger section is 1000lb, or three passengers and a driver

- Cargo box capacity is 500lb, or two more passengers for a total of six

Mostly thought it carries a driver, a gunner, and 1000lb in equipment. Fuel capacity is 35 liters which means more to the three stroke engine than you'd think.

At least a few million reasons (adjusting for inflation).

At least the reason for both changes was consistent.

I prefer the gulf war dune buggies. Why didn't they sell them to civilians?

I think there is some serious FUN THINGS ARE FUN-fuckery going on, while everyone is pretending that we absolutely need these and no, toyota hiluxes or hmmv's won't cut it.

>three stroke engine

Are you sure about that? My understanding of internal combustion engines is fairly limited and rudimentary, but with three strokes the piston wouldn't even end the combustion cycle in position to start the next one. I don't see how a three stroke engine would be possible.

Agreed. I think OP meant 3 cylinder engines.

I copypasted from the Polaris website, apparently it's a patent thing:

Meanwhile in Germany:

>adopt Mercedes G-class, call it Wolf

>Wolf turns out to be extremely reliable, sturdy and cheap to maintain

>everybody likes it

>generals like it because it's cheap

>officers like it because it's reasonably fast

>maintenance likes it because it takes a lot of stupidity to break

>troops like it because it's fun to drive and can go through very bad terrain

>Wolf becomes older and older, requires only few upgrades, like new gun-holders for the G36, and new radio equipment

>some vehicles are almost 20 years old and still kicking

>it's so good that large parts of Europe adopt it

>even the fucking French do license production

>Amerifats adopt it for desert patrol

>it quickly becomes popular with civilians too

>they buy all the vehicles that are too damaged to continue serving and simply order lots of replacement parts from Mercedes Benz

>mercedes keeps improving it

Of all the vehicles I got to use, the Wolf is by far my favorite. Sadly the prices for replacement parts for civilians have increased, because Merc would rather you buy a new version instead of handing it down through five generations.

This tbh, the hummer is a meme. Have a light reconnaissance, patrol and utility vehicle and an APC, not both at once.

I think this is stupid idea. What they can do what wheeled APC and wheeled tank, or both things combined into one can't do? Carry real weapons and armor?

They only make sense when mission has airborne insertions.

>What they can do what wheeled APC and wheeled tank, or both things combined into one can't do?

Be more fun for drivers, passengers, people who have to maintain it, and officers who keep ordering them and occasionally doing "field exercises" with them. Sure it's not a tank, MRAP, ATV or a recon drone, nor it can do anything that can't be done with equipment that most armies in the west already have.

Considering that western countries are mostly going down the shitter, and tax-payer money is being spent on ever more retarded shit in and outside of military, why not waste money on this? It has more uses than a fucking F35, it's more fun than a F35, and it's not a disaster on wheels like F35.

Faster, cheaper, lower profile. An up-modded Go-Kart is stealthier than an MBT.

Also Finbro is right. The military is staffed by 18-20 year olds that would love something they could dick around in.

That's all of the missions nowadays, we aren't driving to the foothills of Himalayas to fight the Taliban… and sadly the Osprey is too small.

And the boxer is a joke, it's a policing anti-rebellion vehicle.

(checked)

Ah my bad man, still seems rather fucking stupid to call in a 3t when it's 2t basically. Wonder what cc these little golf-carts are on? If it is 2t, you're going to have to mix your fuel w/oil unless the pic is over-engineered or super fancy. Seems like a waste though. Would never wish to get caught in a firefight with one of them. Get a Suzuki Jimny instead of a suped up golf cart. Just my opinion.
