From what I've been told, if you thought the commies were badly armed with only swords, rifles, and a hodepodge of shit, the warlords were usually worse. Hell the entire Luding Bridge shit was when theh commies just came in and killed local warlords and residents because they probably lacked supplies they also had 1 machine gun the warlords didnt so…. The thing is, Warlord china is kinda what I forsee the collapse of the US and/or general civilization if it ever happens with SHTF scenario.

Hell, there's a couple based warlords back then, mainly the Northwestern clique by a bunch of muslims Read: Chinese Muslims who hate the Uygurs who had border clashes with the Soviets.

I'm talking about the more remote areas as in a seven hour ride in dirt mountain roads. Not sure about the less remote areas. I do know that they were better equippeed in the central plains. Because after commodore Perry used cannons to knock on store doors the Japanese government instantly realized they need to modernize or the friendly Americans might be replaced by chinks or worse yet koreans next time, so they went and hired foreigners from around the world on government contracts to modernize every aspect of Japanese infrastructure with main inspiration being Prussia, you can see especially that in architecture of Japanese schools

Then after the Hired foreigners taught the natives the details of engineering, agriculture (William S. Clark is the most famous one) the Japanese put their own spin on it.

Depends. Canton was wealthier in the north economically in a sense. southerners are still shorted than northerns on average by 5-10 cm today I believe. The south was (not contemporary) more economically developed than the north. The reason Beijing has shit air quality is because all the heavy polluting industry is up north.

If you say they are poor, I think you mean they spent too much monies on food. A southerner literally can't eat hard biscuts or any hard bread because their jaws eat cooked rice which is soft (and hence the sharp jawline). My grandfather tells me when they first had southerners come up north for the PLA they had to soak the biscuts in water cause they couldn't chew them without hurting their jaws and breaking teeth lol**.
