No, of course not.

Though I suspect it's mostly to avoid a circus of people/kids damaging stuff (they have quite a collection WWI vehicles, and those were already flimsy 100 years ago…), also while they pride themselves to have the biggest collection of tanks in working order I suspect a lot of the exposed models are just empty shells, especially the WWII ones (quite a lot were battle salvage, they repaired and painted the hulls but the insides were churned/emptied).

If you go on a week day outside school holidays and there isn't much people you could always ask politely saying you want need the photos to make 3d models or something. Or better phone/write in advance and ask for time that might be possible.

The museum is run by volunteers not the military, they might bend the rules a little if you're making the effort.

Fuck no. If you were allowed to do that, then all others would be too, which would mean children and neck-beards greasing up and defiling Tiegers, BMPs and Renaults with ice cream or potato chips.

Then there would be the porn producers going in and recording all kinds of filth inside of these vehicles, and worst: a horny strelo/k/ sating his mighty need for Kruppsteel by shoving control leavers into their butts.

And worse than that: Wehraboos/Francaboos/Mericaboos/Britaboos stealing gauges or writing their names on the inside, where there are no cameras or people to ensure nobody does anything naughty.

I think by "battle salvage" he meant the tank was completely fucked on the inside, and all the museum did was patch the holes and put it on display. I doubt they were completely gutted beyond ensuring they can't be driven away by a man with a can of diesel and a dream, they're historic artifacts. It's understandable, since most museums run on donations and can't afford to fully restore every piece in their collection. It's up to private collectors to provide tanks with the love and affection they truly deserve.

Dude shill I meant this >>546570 a lot of those tanks (Nearly all the WARPACT and WWII German tanks are trophies) were hull dragged back from the battlefield (the most recent loot is a bunch of T series of various commie origins from Iraq 1991), some were captured brand new, some were barely above scrap heap.

Also vehicles even non-loot vehicle may have sat outside for half a century and while they still have a proper shape, the more fragile interior has long rotten away (they don't have anywhere near enough room for everything, a lot of the less valuable stuff/stuff kept for parts is sleeping outside the gigantic compound that is mostly hangars full of tanks, what is showed to the public is maybe 25% of what they have)…

On a handful of them they still sport the damage if it was "clean" (hull pierced but nothing too damaged inside), IIRC a Jagdpanther and a Hummel, if not it's been repaired so that you not see if it's empty inside…

Shitposting and de-railing the thread aside: how does the Musee des Blindes compare to the Münster Panzer Museum? I am going to the caliphate in the summer and want to see my tankfus up close, should I also take a trip to Frogland to see that museum? I went to the Bundeswehr War Museum in Desresden last February and was disappointed by the lack of vehicles as hey only really HD a few West German tanks and one old jet also the fucking shoe exhibit and loss of objectivity and addition of politics as soon as the museum hit 1933 were a great thing

Most of these places can't afford to keep them running (hell, the german army struggled to keep Tigers running during the war, and that was with tons of spare parts), watch the Tank Museums series on restoring a Matilda II if you want an idea of how much work goes in to it.

The big tanks museum are Bovington, Saumur, Kubinka.

Kubinka is the biggest (given it was, and still is, the red army armor testing/designing ground, they tried to keep one model of everything they could in good condition for future designs/comparisons. It's amazing to see they have most cold war tanks including shit that wasn't exported anywhere and was clearly stolen by the GRU or something. They probably have M1s, Leo2s, etc… somewhere in the parts not open to public) but you have to go there, Bovington has the most western tanks, Saumur has the most working tanks.

I'd recommend that you reconsider, or at least consider visiting during some other trip in the future. It's well worth it.

Only if the border guard is black, or trans. I was going to call or go to the consulate soon to see, I can’t imagine a visa would be that hard to get.

Oh okay, I’ve only been to the US or EU countries so I’ve never needed a visa before, I thought you were serious as to how strict it is. From what I understand all I need to do is bring a visa application and some ID and the dates I’m going to be in Slavland to the Russian Consulate, then wait a few weeks/months.
