4ba8e9 No.535584

https://archive.fo/1iidc

The Canadian government has scrapped plans to purchase Super Hornets in favour of buying decades-old F-18s from Australia.

Trudeau places the blame squarely on the Harper government, saying that if the Conservatives had held an "open and transparent competition" then we would have had replacement jets a decade ago.

I wish I knew what it was like to live in a first-world country that didn't have to buy 30-year old leftovers.

3caee2 No.535587

i know that feel fam

at least your country isnt willing to spend billions on motherfucking patriots, an aa that never worked

or on 40yeras old f16 that were broken before they even entered country

e0977f No.535617

>open and transparent competition

Uh… what the hell?

Is he confusing the super hornet purchase with the F-35 purchase?

e77def No.535620

My understanding of Canadian acquisitions is that one party starts a program, rigs it to favor the outcome they want, spends a decade fucking around and never completing the buy because it's expensive, then the other party campaigns on how wasteful the first party is being, gets power, cancels the buy and eats a half billion dollars in penalties, then realizes they still need to buy new whatever it is and starts their own program that they then rig. Is that accurate?

Somalians I think more F-18s and the F-35A, the F-35C would've been more poetic

Yes I know right. I can't believe that the Australian government are actually selling the aging planes to Canada. Isn't it dangerous to use very old planes???

Clearly the final solution to your problems goyim is to buy more F-35's :^)

fcf543 No.535710

It could have been worse.

They could have bought F-35s.

Most realistic OC donut steel plane AC has produced maybe after XFA-36.

Btw what does /k/ think of XFA-27 in terms of realism? Could it work as a stealthy near mach 3 superfighter that is in no way sot effective one of the most expensive fighters in the franchise and nearly 2.5 times as expensive as the F-22 in AC2.

Are they seriously still going down with this deal?

A resurrected arrow might not be a bad idea, a supersized version of MiG-25 except capable of supercruise.

That way they could have one untouchable base on the shores of the bay of hudson's and reach any territorial water of Canada in 40 mins.

Buy 50 of them, and 150 of Textron Scorpion for bombing and other duties. Instead of 70 multiroles that can't do either job.

>>537125

Ole Step-In-Water produced a situation where the next PM will have to replace the ENTIRE airforce all at once. Your youngest airframes have about the same age as the Australian ones, so the entire airforce will be hitting its expiry date in the 2020s.

Pretty funny IMHO.
