There's no discharge in the war!

So I plan on selling my Ruger SR9C and buying an AR, likely Savage. Pawn shop, not many choices, but cyka blyat. I have AR mods out the wazoo because I was active duty US Army 11B and thus I got items to make my job so fucking hawt. I kept said items, but not gun to put them on. These include mags and grips. Should I sell my sidearm for a main arm?

To note…

The Ruger SR9C does NOT have a streamlined flashliht or laser. It has a rough slide pull (I'd prefer a fucking Glock) but it does not have reliability issues.

I am trained (hard) on the AR15 platform. I've conducted war multiple times and killed… things. (Taliban are not people) The AR15 is my mistress; I know her more than I know human women and trust her far more than human women.

Is this a good idea?

What's your budget for the AR? Do you have to sell your subcompact? Do not like the pistol? Can you keep it so you can CC in your state?

If you want, you can just order an AR from PSA, you'll save quite a bit of cash but you won't be able to finger it before buying.

I don't have a CC… yet. I want to finish my LEO Academy first, in a few months. The Ruger SR9C isn't… preferable.

They have the Savage AR15 recon. I've toyed with it once. I like it.

>I don't have a CC… yet. I want to finish my LEO Academy first, in a few months.

Unless it's Illinois or Cali your priorities are fucked. The point of having a gun is in case it's needed, you won't be able to take the AR into the grocery store and conceal it for when Jamal decides he isn't gonna pay for his malt liquor and wants the cash in the register.

Leave the warfighter bullshit out of this, if you have a warrior mentality then you'll understand the first rule of a gunfight is to have a fucking gun. The Ruger isn't high-speed low-drag enough for you? Then upgrade when you can. You really want an AR? Then save and get one when you can.

What's your price range for your AR then? (Normally if you're dropping over 1200 on an AR you could go less for more). Also is it a keymod or MLOK rail (like in your pick)?

Do you have any accessories to go with your AR or are you starting fresh with it? (as in you have no mags, no bag, etc.)

Depending on your state it should be simple to get your CC (unless its flordia… Floridia? that state that's half cuban).

Keymod tends to break up if you accidently drop it with an accessory attached.

c1934f No.533251

So the AR I wanted was sold hours ago. Ended up trading in my Ruger for a Makarov that has better play on the slide and didn't cost me a dime.

If you already have all the bells and whistles to put on it, you should save up and buy a quality one.

Because it's basically gonna be your only purchase.

Don't buy an AR, build it.

Ruger SR9c's can have slide issues.

Is it just a bit strong to pull back, or does it feel like it's catching on something?

If it's the later, give ruger a call about sending it in to have it fixed.

I traded it in for a Makarov

An odd trade, but a very solid choice. Make sure to replace the spring.

Springs are maintenance parts that must be replaced after the rated round count, and who knows how many rounds have actually been through it. A gen 4 glock for example should be replaced between 5k-7k rounds. You may look into getting a spring that is slightly stronger than that standard, as I've heard (from an owner) that the factory springs are somewhat under powered in order to cycle shitty inconsistent ammo, and that upping the poundage a bit improves felt recoil.

Also check the firing pin length. Other than that I'n not sure of any other specific maintenance, so you'll have to research that your self.

fagpul has good grips, but I don't care for their stocks or handguards tbqh

The slide seems fine to me but the loaded chamber indicator is gay.

I saw a video where this dude left these guns out in the snow for an hour, then function tested them once they were nice and cold. He dropped a rifle with a fagpul stock on a rock and it broke in half. I don't know how well other stocks would perform in that situation but that really turns me off from fagpul stocks- it doesn't do you any good if it fucking breaks, and depending on where you live that scenario isn't necessarily unlikely.

That sounds like a problem with polymers and synthetics in general, not a specific brand. I doubt Magpul is using synthetics that much different from anyone else.
