Alright /k/ what is YOUR favourite choices of knots that you use when you're innawoods.

I just use the overhand knot for nearly everything.

It's the only knot you need for lashings and most other things. OP is a knotless pleb.

I feel like I get more use out of the double half hitch than anything else, though I tend to use all of the typical boy scout knots now and again.

the main hitch I know has problems but I don't know what it's called.

Most useful thing I ever learned was how to do a bowline in one movement with one hand.

I know there is an old knots book on /pdf/ but are there good sources that separate braided and twisted rope?

Honestly, you should know both the reef/square knot and the bowline knot. Those two together can easily handle virtual any type of problem thrown your way that requires a knot. Maybe the figure 8 knot and clove hitch, if you want to supplement with more decent, general use knots.

I thought this was gonna be furry porn tbh

Here are some of my favorite knots.

>Square Knot

>Bowline (tying it with both hands, and with one hand)

>Double Fisherman's Knot

>Alpine Butterfly

>Figure Eight Loop (both on a bight and using the figure eight follow through method)

>Timber Hitch

>Clove Hitch (both tied on a bight and tied with a free end)

>Prusik Knot

>Directional Figure Eight/Inline Figure Eight Loop

You should know how to coil rope so that it doesn't tangle when you uncoil it. I mainly use the butterfly coil and fireman's coil.

If you ever use webbing you should know the water knot and you should learn how to tie a webbing harness. I wouldn't recommend using a webbing harness during anything other than an emergency though. It's really uncomfortable.

The square knot shouldn't be used for anything outside of bindings.
