What are some instances of large-scale production of caliber conversions on existing guns?

Ones I can think of

Italians rechambering most of their old vetterli's to 6.5, Turks did it with captured ANZAC Enfields to 8x57 and the Yugoslav's and Hungarians did convert a retarded amount of M95's to 8x57.

Oh, also remembered the M3 Grease Gun was intended to be suitable for easy conversion to 9mm (just change barrel that's replacable without tools and install and a spacer block), but it was (almost?) never done.

I can't remember if the Finnish converted Soviet subguns to 9mm or they only copied them and built them in 9mm.

Brazil and Spain converted most of their Mauser rifles to 7.62x51 training rifles.

The chinese pretty much converting everything to 7.62x39 after the civil war. Mausers, Arisakas, BREN's, ZB-29's, there are probably some 7.62x39 Maxim guns hidden in some armory in ching-chong bumfuckistan.

Why can't we use 5.56 as a replacement for the m1 carbine, a 6-7mm cartilage as the replacement for the m16,and something as for DMR role such as a magnum cartilage like 7mm rem mag?
